In what respect?

And yes @Pug I'm mildly obsessed with Doomlord. I even made myself an action figure version a few years ago, since nobody was prepared to make one for me:

It was featured in SFX one month.

Fair do's.

We had this discussion a while back, people try to explain it but all it really boils down to is: ignore the massive number it shows after jumping; literally pretend it doesn't appear.  It's meaningless.

after a while the whole game becomes similar as we've all seen

I think he was questioning whether they are 'discovered' by other players or not.

@macosx was that proven?  It seems like something that would be fairly straightforward to implement, though given the state of the rest of the game, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't doing it.

I think they were found in a text file in the code.

This is a bit disappointing if true. Whenever I start the game I keep a close eye on the named systems and I began to suspect this was not updated in real time.  One day a while back when I started the game some systems had 'QA' after the name which suggested the testers had named them, they never appeared since, but who knows whats going on.

For a while I couldn't get a greater slot multi-tool upgrade for love nor money, however last night they were being given out like shampoo samples.

Man you chaps should  REALLY think about trying out Elite Dangerous..

I'm not convinced there's much crossover really, especially for people who are passionate about one or the other. I think such people who like NMS would dislike Elite and vice versa.

There's been an influx of players from NMS to Elite, who have now found in Elite what they felt was lacking in NMS.

That comment was mainly in follow up / context of people talking about upgrading ships and having better combat.   I think Elite nails the feeling of exploring (and fighting in) space a lot better than NMS.  It also has more interesting player character progression, by virtue of having a  lot of things to do / things to improve yourself in your pilot career.  And, for me, there's something more awesome about space being more 'realistic' as well, because despite not getting so many 70's Sci Fi book covers, you do occasionally stumble across something breathtaking while adventuring; be it an awesome binary or trinary system where the suns are close, a mega-colurful nebula, or awesome black holes.   The scale and desolation of it are unmatched imo.
