No Man's Sky - Interceptor

Three awesome planets in a row. The first was visually unlike any other I have landed on so far - the landscape was formed by masses of giant tree root looking tubes that wove all around each other, meaning you were always walking on bridge like paths - and there were packs of sabretooth tiger like animals living on them.

The next was almost entirely ocean. Very little landmass, and after a first recon flight in atmosphere I wasn't actually able to find any landing zones or buildings. I assume they are all underwater.

The third I visited seemed like a typical world, except it was populated by these huge friendly giant creatures with feathered heads that looked like they were wearing backpacks - they all stood clustered around the tops of the mountains looking at the sun and stretching with their eyes closed. I spent a good while trying to take a nice photo but they aren't the most co-operative species.

I've had a bit of a resurgence on this, decided to sod the Atlas path for now and find a nice planet to discover ships. First system was a bust, in terms of new planets, but i did find extreme radiation and cold environments. Got a bit tedious though, do I found a barren looking place with 40C daytime, triggering the heat shielding, but 49C nighttime which doesn't. No matter, virtex cubes ahoy, 2m thus far. I'm not sure I'm going to farm them, but it should see me through suit upgrades.

Speaking of which, I recently found the left door in a station, which needs a v1 pass, always gives a suit slot.

Anyway, I recall we've talked about how flat the planets are, but i found a belter today. I took loads of photos, but the fov really doesn't do the height of mountains justice. May have to record a video, but I'll post the shots tomorrow.

Spent from 10am until 8pm today, with less than an hour's break in total, visiting hundreds of factories and outposts in the hope one of them would have an Atlas Pass V2 blueprint. Did they fuck.

I don't think you get them from factories/outposts. I got the V1 path from an anomaly

I've sussed out how to find these portals...spoilered in case you want to work it out yourself.

Find a ruin with a flagpole. Look through the round part and line up the direction, then fly that course until you pass over the sundial.

I'm a bit too happy about this considering they literally do fuck all.

According to the Prima guide, you get the v2 and v3 from factories or outposts.

Spoiler

Not tried it yet but this is what I found on reddit.

Operations Centre

One of the riddles you will get when farming outposts for your Atlas Pass goes something like this:

It will say production systems have recently been initialized but no product has been selected. It will then ask you to choose the type of product you want: oxide, silicate, or isotope (note it does not ask you to give anything from inventory). There is no wrong answer, but your choice will determine the color of blueprint you receive for a craftable item.

Choosing iron will get you a yellow blueprint

Choosing silicate will get you a blue blueprint

Choosing isotope will get you a red blueprint

The key is to select silicate because the only blue blueprints (that I've seen) are Bypass Chip and the Atlas Passes.

Has there been any announcement about future updates for this yet?  Interested to see what they could add.

They have been very quiet lately, hopefully busy working on new features. No communication on twitter for a few weeks now.

Yeah, that's from the guide too. Not got passes from it yet this way though.

I seem to have inadvertently fallen into the Ship Upgrade Grind Trap. I saw a cool looking ship with a good 4 or 5 more slots than I had, but of course I'm now down to just a Warp Drive Sigma. Repaired all the systems but couldn't quite bring myself to grind the resources needed to install the upgrades because I figured I'd only need to do it all over again with my next ship. So I've stuck with this one for now, and quite enjoyable it's been, as it had quite souped up cannons. As a result I've been engaging in more space combat than before, and it's really quite a lot of fun.

Then I found a crashed Science Ship, with one more slot than my current ship. But it doesn't look all that. So now I'm considering just hopping from crash site to crash site for a bit until I find one I really like, then upgrading that.

Yep I spent quite a few hours doing that & upgraded my ship from a 24 slot all the way to 48 max. It was easier than the grind of getting enough credits to buy a ship.
