No Man's Sky - Interceptor

I certainly haven't ever had the game crash on me on PS4 after the initial patch (crashed once before), but I've had all manner of glitches, so it's not all Wonkavision for me.

I also had another freak/random occurence last night whereby I shot down an innocent ship, then immediately noticed that the exact same ship was available below me at a crash site. I'm sure it was mere coincidence, but for one brief moment I thought I'd discovered a gameplay feature.

Of course it's probably just the game seeding certain ship types per system or something, but I'd also seen the ship parked at the Space Station earlier, so I like to think it was the same one each time.

Edit: Now with vid:

This was well weird. I went to upload my animal discoveries, and found that one of them had been replaced by a molecular model that I could rotate:

After I clicked off it and came back It went back to normal (although not animated for some reason). I couldn't get the molecular model to re-appear.

I've had that happen once before. No idea why.

So I sold it. I feel bad as I love the chat in here and wish I could have been part of it. But in the end I got more satisfaction out of everyone else's discoveries than my own. Having to grind for an hour or so to get materials to craft for fuel really wore my down and the thought of putting it on ended up filling me with dread.

i could watch the game on YouTube for hours though and I can't wait to see what future patches bring to the table.

If the patch is the public release of the last experimental build (1.06), it's mainly about preventing the crashing but also, according to a reddit user of that build:

Quote
  • Scanning is super fast now, zooming in on flying creatures registers and scans as long as they are near the crosshair
  • 75% life support no longer gives the "life support low" warning
  • Gek Transmission Tower interfaces have been replaced with Korvak Transmission Tower interfaces, meaning the bug where you can use the interface over and over no longer works.
  • Stability, seems to be running smoother, haven't crashed in the past few hours.
  • POIs are no longer removed if you reload current save, meaning the only way to remove that beacon waypoint 3 planets over is to go visit it, or leave the system.
  • Area scan icons disappear sooner after scanning (plutonium, relics, etc.)
  • SOL system is working properly now, you no longer have to spend 8 concurrent hours on an extreme planet, yay

That last one's going to be handy for people who don't want to endure extreme conditions in real life in exchange for getting a trophy in a video game about enduring extreme conditions. Wimps.

Ok I have got that infinite transmission tower thing and it was in a Gek system. @dood try it out!

Ah so it is just a weird glitch I must have had. Every other console since I got my account back (and online) has been a one use thing.

Anyone found a V2 or V3 Atlas Pass yet? Are they just random, or can they be gotten from somewhere specific?

I got a full refund off Amazon for mine. I didn't think they'd allow it, but I just clicked the 'missing advertised features' option and they approved it.

Ok I just got an Atlas Pass V3. Spoilers below, sort of.

Seems it is as I suspected, and you can only get the V3, and possibly 2 (though why you'd want to get a V2 when V3 unlocks V2 doors anyway is beyond me, other than for completeness sake on the craft-able front) from the Korvax. Specifically the Colonial Outposts (I got it from an Operations Centre). I'd scanned (hacking those scan boxes with the orange beams coming out of them) for these on both Vy'keen and Gek worlds with no luck, yet the first time I get to a Korvax sector again since the very start of the game I try again, and after a few scans (one or two of which were manufacturing facilities), I get the V3, skipping V2 entirely. I'm not sure if I can get a V2 at this point, but we'll see.

I'd googled for where to get them from already, and every answer was the same; scan for Colonial Outposts, but every video and screenshot I saw showed a Korvax related building where the person found one. I guess it kind of makes sense from a lore perspective, seen as the Korvax were more aligned with Atlas than the other two races.

Edit: Strangely, I need to keep the V1 pass, despite owning a V3. Odd that V2 doors, etc can be opened with a V3, yet V1 cylinders cannot.

Double edit: And just got the V2, so now I can craft everything in the game. Got it at the last of the 10 Colonial Outposts I scanned for on the same planet as I got the V3.

So I had an idea for a thread. "Games for RLLMUKers sick of No Man's Sky but are sick of No Man's Sky."

Problem is, if we add yet another NMS thread to discussion there will be blood. Or at least Lego style dramas. Feel free to copy my list and add other suggestions.

Out There (PC,Mac,Linux,iOS,Android) I played this a few weeks ago when I did my back. If you wanted No Man's Sky crossed with FTL you're in luck because that's what this is. (Or more accurately NMS feels a lot like a 3D version of Out There.) You have very limited inventory slots and equipment works better if it's placed next to each other. The only reason I'm not still playing this is because NMS came out. And I suspect I'll be returning to it soon.

Corpse of Discovery (PC) I'm only about 30 minutes into this 2-3 hour game and I think I've already guessed where it's going. But if you want to explore some curated planets instead of randomly made ones then this can be yours for a tenth of the price of NMS. It has mixed (mainly negative) reviews. It's probably best to go in cold rather than watching the trailer if you're going to play this. What I've played so far does capture that feeling of loneliness that NMS has (at least for me.) One for fans of walking simulators.

Any other suggestions?
