No Man's Sky - Interceptor

Yeah I tried it too, he must have got lucky with a bug.  All you have to do otherwise @p1nseeker is keep using bypass chips, search for transmissions and then head to transmission towers when you find them.

Be warned! Sometimes you'll keep finding ships with one less slot, but perseverance will pay off! :)

The only thing I can think of is that I'm playing offline (and even then not using my account). I haven't been able to sign in to PSN since I got hacked on Monday morning, so it might have something to do with that, or I got lucky and the consoles bugged on me, as I did it on multiples, not just the one.

Nevertheless, its still the way to get ships, just it will take a while longer sadly.

Wait, what, I swear the I read that you repeatedly used the same terminal over and over!

Anyway @p1nseeker when you find a Transmission Tower, it will always take you to a crashed ship.  And there are tons of them on every planet.

Useful info thanks. Much easier to spot when flying

Is there a big patch due this week? I'm sure i saw something saying last weeks patch was for bug fixes but this weeks would make PS4/PC players very happy.

Or did i dream it.

You did see that.

..but I think that's the patch that is already out.

Yeah, it's the one that now makes it crash on the PS4, rather than not crash.

Also, anyone seen that albumen pearls and grav balls respawn, but you can't pick them up a second time? Makes farming a cave with millions of pearls in a fucking nightmare.

Yeah I had that bug.  Cubes disappearing or rather reappearing after collection but disappearing again when you look directly at them.

My favourite bug is that the same ship + pilot gets spawned 2 or more times simultaneously at space stations.

Thanks for all the help in this thread, upto a 45 slot ship that I like the design of so I'm gonna leave it there.  Time to set sail, follow the Atlas path then it's on to the core.

How doth the hero strong and brave, a celestial path in the heavens pave.

This has been a bit disappointing so far - only played for an hour or so last night.  My first planet isn't very nice to look at.  I've collected most of the stuff I need to get off it now, although I'm fed up of picking up carbon to recharge my beam and life support.  Beating up plants makes me feel even less heroic than beating up lamposts in Lego Batman did.  There are plenty of animals around, although disappointingly none of them look like penises.  Some spiders attack me on sight, and they're lethal.  The larger animals just leg it, and they don't give up much in the way of resources.  Unfortunately I need 200 units of some rare element (Heridium or something) to take off, and the only source of that I can find is some extremely fast rabbit-like creatures, which are a nightmare to kill, and they only give up five units at a time.  I only have 25 units so far, so it looks like there are a few more frustrating hunting sessions before I can take off.

I had a cool moment last night. I just followed three ships flying in formation round the planet. I like the fact that the white lines coming out of them is the same number as how many thrusters they have. I followed them for a good fifteen minutes, just letting the planet roll underneath us.

I've done the same, many times.

What's also quite fun though, is to open fire on them...

I spent all of yesterday grinding an exploit to get a 48-slot ship. It may be an exploit, but hey, it gave me another day of something to do in the game.

Find the kind of building with a large straight antenna, from the terminal in there you can search for crashed ships. For some reason you can keep using the terminal over and over again, so flag up as many crashed ships as you want. On Gek worlds (for some reason) almost every crashed ship you find will have 1 more slot than your current ship. So you just keep transferring. Fix shields, thrusters and pulse drive, then fly to the next crashed ship. It requires a lot of inventory management if you want to break down the tech each time -- and you need to source a lot of your own Heridium and Plutonium.

I now have a 48-slot ship. It's not the best looker, but it's alright. So... now what can I do?

Start grinding your exo suit or multi-tool?

I did visit a lot of drop pods to get my exo suit up but on the ship front I'm only going to buy a new ship once I find one I like. Multi-tool I got the 24 tool from a Vy'keen.

You're the second person to mention this, I tried it but could only complete the puzzle once.

What is the secret to these reusable transmission towers?!  Mine have only ever worked once, sadface

I think the terminal that shows you crashed ships is the only re-usable one -- you just answer the same number question every time. You usually find it in a cluster of three buildings: one has a landing pad and a trade terminal, one has a satellite dish and a terminal to look for ruins, and one has a large straight antenna and a terminal to look for crashed ships. That's the re-usable one. May only work on Gek worlds?
