Has anyone with that mod tried flying low when there is a storm? One thing that is annoying on the PS4 is that a storm can come in and you get the rain, clouds and plants blowing around in the wind. But jump into your ship and go 50 feet off the ground and all signs of the storms vanish until you land again.

It's the same even with the mod, the rule seems to be:

If(inShip)

        displayStormEffects.Disable()

:(

Hmm OK, I wonder if zoom distance affects it? I tried exactly as you described but found nothing.  Will try again later.

Spoiler

Finoahing the Atlas path marks all the black holes for you, until then you need the anomalies.

Ha, someone made a mod which removes the restrictions on looking down while flying / flying too low

Thanks for the heads up.

The number of planets in which all I wanted to do was fly through gorges and under arches is as long as my arm. I haven't played this since last week so this may be just what I need to get some enthusiasm back..

Haven't posted in here for a while. I've got 48 slots in my exosuit, and 25 in my ship, as well as 18 in my multi-tool. I've only visited 3 (? I think) systems, one of which was a jump back towards a waypoint I'd set by mistake to see if it clears it (it seems it does). I'm not getting any new tech blueprints, and I only got 1 chemical/material blueprint recently after ages not getting anything new.

I still enjoy it, but I can see why other's are a bit annoyed over the stuff that is missing. I've not seen one of those sentinel walkers for instance, are they even in the game, and if so, when do they appear?

Just carry on doing naughty things after the flyers and dog escort appear, GTA stylee - probably easiest to achieve when the sentinals are set to aggressive, maybe on a planet with the lime green markers used for forbidden goodies.  I am sure you can achieve it elsewhere.

How do you set waypoints?

And how do you turn off markers for planets you're not currently on? I'm on one planet and have 12 markers pointing to ruins I've already visited on another planet.

I think you scan a position whilst on foot to establish a current waypoint.

No way of getting rid of ex planet markers as far as I know.

Re walkers. I tried to get to 5 stars this morning.  I couldn't get it past 3! The little 'detection' meters the baddies had just stopped filling up!  I tried several times and no luck :(  the original trailers show them waking up and stuff, wish you could just stumble across them and accidentally wake them etc.

Re way points. If you set a building way point with a scan, it will vanish the next time you click r3, @deKay

Planetary icons won't disappear until you leave the system, bizarrely. Unless you mod it on PC! ;)

I've given up on the centre now - I'm pretty sure there'll be nothing there worth the trip, and when LeChuck gets there I'll just find out from him if I'm wrong. That's assuming he can still type with a straitjacket on.

Instead, the increasingly less frequent times I'm playing have been spent jumping to blue-star systems and searching them for that elusive paradise. Have to say, I'm not convinced that the odds of finding one are greatly improved by choosing the highest-quality stars. I haven't seen any yet, this moon in a blue-star system being the nearest I've come (though the orange grass makes it look less lush than it actually is):

It's not got amazing resources though, despite its temperate climate, docile sentinels and jaffa cake-flavoured savannas.

And you'll never get the shots some of these places deserve without a wider FOV, even if you get to turn the HUD off eventually. You lose all sense of scale with a tight zoom like that. Anyway, a few more jumps through the week and I might call it on this one. Paradise aside, I'm well into diminishing returns and repeated content now. Maybe I should just make Balmy Orangina World my last stop.

Was spending a lot of time playing this so I've taken a few days off.

Looking forward to get back to it today & time to set off to the acorn electron galaxy in search of a smaller ship to get rid of the beast.

Haha. I was out walking the dog the other day and saw a red kite above the trees. I quickly got out my phone but needed the x3 zoom. :P

Haha. I've been daydreaming about playing this from the beginning with some self-imposed rules to make it a bit more.. Survival-ey?  Ahem.  Anyway, the main gist of it would be:

- No L3 scanner allowed

- No using bypass chips to find buildings

- Can only recharge life support / other equipment while in-ship

- No farming of stupid free money items permitted.

I also fancy making my own mod, to reduce the icon sizes, they're a bit gigantic for what they need to be!

I'm doing something similar on my PC playthrough. I'm currently:

Ignoring all wall mounted blueprint dispensers

Ignoring the loot crates that litter the place

No farming

I also thought about only trading directly with aliens and not using the galactic trade machines but I let that one slip. Death should also mean restart, but again I was messing about trying to destroy a freighter (you can't) and got myself killed several times.

Oh, and something else that proves I've gone a little bit insane with this game... When I repair the ship I stand beside it and look at some part or module, as if that's where the repair is being done. :(

So today, I gave up after two whole days trying to find the elusive last animal on the planet I was on. Moved on to the next system. Set down on the far side of a moon from a huge planet to find rabid sentinels, 100 degree storms, gravitino balls littering the landscape and bouncing pineapples. Within a couple of hours I'd scanned everything, uploaded for the 175k and got the achievement for scanning all animals, picked up and sold loads of gravitino balls and increased my exo suit and got a better mining gun. A very satisfying session. Then I went to the planet and it's the most boring thing I've been to so far, except for its huge Emeril spires and docile sentinels. I need plenty of carbon to keep my mining gun charged for this one.

Well that would be cool, instead of going to a menu you could physically see the damaged part and interact with it.
