I'd only seen aluminum in is crystalline form until this evening. I knew that zinc was in the flowers, but I just couldn't find any. Have got a stash now though.

I seem to be hitting a crash loop currently, everytime I try to warp :( fingers crossed as I try again...

You are using the scanner like every ten seconds, right? The range improvement mods are sooooo useful! Yellow icons, 90% of the time (for me, obvs) are zinc flowers.

I've also just watched that video from the overhyped thread, it is mad to see how he talked in some of the interviews..!  Something fishy has definitely gone on here.. Unless he has literally been lying all along, but why would you? "To sell games"? Nah.  Of course all I can go on is a hunch, but I don't believe that.

More than ever I'm crossing fingers they get to continue working on it.

I'm rich beyond my wildest dreams!

i've hit a planet, 6 seconds flight from the space station (the hatch faces the planet for easy landing) , that's loaded with vortex cubes, gold and chrysonite. Filling up my 36 slots with cubes each run.

The 'elite force' of sentinels lose interest five seconds after being activated if you rocket punch away.

now just picking up pods on the planet to max out and then to buy a massive ship.

just read the Kotaku review, seems he's doing the exact same thing ;)

Tonight I fell through the world after walking through a block of aluminium I'd shot up. I ended in a highly radioactive ocean, where I could see land and seabed, jetpack up some invisible walls to briefly get out, but never get over the invisible box.

On the plus side, this is the first night it hasn't completely crashed on me.

Still haven't found a really beautiful planet, but I'm early on. Enjoying the trading, actually! Not sure why mining 200 Gold and then selling it is any different from killing 200 Russians and earning a grenade launcher. A few resource missions and I had a new ship (still haven't fiddled about with placing of upgrades, but I can kill pirates easily now). Next is upgrading the suit and ship so I can have resources plus valuable shit to sell. And stacks of Plutonium, so I can take off and land whenever I please. Find all the good outposts, upgrades and that. I'd like to be way more stocked before I get closer to the galactic centre.

Can someone do me a favour the next time they do a black hole?

Spoiler

Check your distance remaining before / after the jump, and compare with the message shown on HUD immediately after exiting the black hole.

I had something like 175400 light years to centre.  Jumped through black hole.  It tells me on screen that I've jumped 80000 ly..  I check the map, it's on about 173000 remaining...

Wtf. Not much of a shortcut then, eh?

In better news, I finally found the next warp engine!  Should've done more crashed ships, the upgrades I've found on the distress beacon quests have general been ship / thruster related! Of course that's where I'd find them! Doh.

Think I'm going to sack off the recommended route to centre from now and just use free select mode too, once you know roughly how far you can scroll it's a bit quicker than pushing the right stick along those navigation lines!

Also a question for those who've investigated a lot of crashed ship and used them to upgrade..

Spoiler

If I go to a planet, burn like 10 chips on transmission locating, queue up a bunch of crashed ships, and then hop through them, fixing them up as I go, will they progressively get better?  All the ships I'm finding are kind +/- 1 slot...  Just wondering whether I can spoof the rules on a single planet or if I need to keep going to different systems.

Haven't been able to get signed in when playing because of the shitty broadband here and I'm desperate to share a pic of my ship!

Its the Mazomoto 12 or something like that, a chrome and blue cross between Slave1 & a bug; with six solar panel wings on the sides. I love it, even if it's only a lowly 13 slotter.

in terms of the game, I'm the same as a lot of people here; tons of faults but it's so compelling I'm drawn back to it every night and soon forget them all as I blast off for one more survey of a weird planet.

Ive also not died yet, I'm something like 30 Sols; is that good? Bad? Standard? The longer it goes on for the more I want "this" guy to make it!

I have used literally hundreds of bypass chips on transmissions towers searching for "transmission" but have not even once found a crashed ship. Wtf

The transmission scan will find a few different things, that generally have a lame puzzle inside which will then give you another way point. So for example, observatories will always find you an alien ruin.  Transmission towers will find wrecked ships.  Beacons find you an outpost with a single landing pad / shop / npc.

Have you missed the puzzles inside, possibly? I find it hard to believe you have used literally hundreds of chips and not found a transmission tower!

It comes up slightly different...

Spoiler

as a distress signal, that should lead you to a building with a puzzle to solve and then will add a marker for a crashed ship

Hope that helps

I skip using the bypass chip consuming scanners to find transmission towers now. Instead I fly around looking for transmission tower buildings directly. It might be less efficient but I got fed up with the trail of waypoints for Beacons and Observatories that I felt the need to visit to clear my waypoint zoo.

The inefficiency results in me being slightly less single minded in the persuit of the goal and looking at whatever else I fly passed.

On a different topic I was torn when offered a max slotted multi-tool last night. A monolith had, just an hour, earlier given me a 22 slotted one in jet black with horns and a green lights. It was like carrying a "gaming" PC - angular and glowy for no benefit but it made me feel cool. In the end I look the upgrade because I'm a slot-slut.

Finished the Atlas Trail...

Spoiler

So I made a star! Woo! Wish I knew where it was and could name it, customise it and spin it up and visit. :( Be nice if the reward for the Atlas trail was to be able to fiddle with the parameters used in the algorithm.

Then I jumped through the black hole and ended up god knows where. As others said, seemed to jump many more ly than I approached the centre. Think I'll try and get the last Warp drive, and then jump towards the centre. End of the day you don't need a massive ship, just enough to carry fuel.

Also got involved in a big battle last night, I arrived in a system and six ships zoomed past me towards a distress signal plastered on the size of a freighter. As I was just observing I tried to see if there were sides. Spotted someone attacking the freighter and went after them. Then i got a counter in the bottom right saying how many attacking ships were remaining. Unfortunately, after killing about six of them, I died :( So I didn't learn what happens if you successfully fight them off.

Is 24 the max slot size?

@dood re black holes - done 2 of them and had the same experience as you

many many LY travelled both times  but not directly toward the centre!  All I know is that I must be way way from the starting sector.

That's so rubbish!
