That's so damn good!

It's such an ambitious title for such a small team they were always going to fall short with some things. With a more powerful system you'll get improved draw distance and less pop in straight away but i'm sure they could improve the generating of things, have more natural animal variety with more complex behaviours and a more useable market (for starters!) with the knowledge gained from making this. I applaud them for getting this out, it's so, so close to the game i've always wanted.

Shit! I have a horrible feeling I left behind a planet full of that stuff a few jumps ago... Didn't realise it was so valuable at the time!

One thing I've noticed on PC that seems different to ps4 (or perhaps I just didn't notice.. Possible given my tendency towards the herb  ) is that when you use the scanner to search for minerals etc, that you get a huge grid of boxes around the big mineral blocks.  Helpful for noticing things like this..

That happens on PS4 too.

Game's a lot more streamlined when you can instantly identify visually all the key resources.  Sometimes the lighting plays tricks though

Unlike this weirdo who was like a truffle pig, happily digging up 3 or 4 alloys and minerals if fed just a small handful of iron:

No Damon though so it's not too bad:

The elements are buggered in this really. I mean, why not earn trace elements through the natural elements they exist in?

So if you mine Platinum, you'll get the likes of Iridium*

Rather then..you know, fucking giant cocks of the stuff. I'm not even sure Iridium can be found pure like that because of "natural geological processes" that any planet would need to form.

*actually i've just realised what i've said and obviously the game would have to ask you which of the two elements you'd want.

I also love the way the elements just fly into you. Like actually your holding a tesco's value element organiser bag out ready to collect it, rather then being absorbed through your suit.

The game isn't exactly big on being realistic. I mean it has floating islands in the sky and ore deposits can be cut in half and magically hover in the air. For a game that uses Havoc phsyics you would expect better.

I've been weirdly drawn to completing the milestones in this game, especially when I learnt parts of the game appear to be gated by your Milestone rating. Disappointed then to hit the maximum recognized status, which nowhere near the actual maximum (About 50 rather than the maximum possible, which is 90). I'm very close to maxing out various milestones too, though my Survive extreme conditions one is bugged and stuck at 0.

I have no idea how many hours I'm into this now, must be over 20, but I'm finding myself exploring less and less as time goes on. My routine is now space station, planet, second planet, jump. Each planet I may only spend a couple of minutes on now, rather than a few hours for some of them early on. I'm not bothering to rename anything now, either. Even if I find a nice planet full of beasties I can 100% in no time at all, maybe its the upgraded scanner I have but it just shows where the unscanned creatures are so it's easy peasy.

I'm starting to need new content, I'm close to hitting the 'fuck it' space travel button and zooming towards the Atlas and centre goals (if it's possible to do both) and putting the game to rest for a bit. I just hope the PC performance issues aren't going to eat up all of HG's development time. I know they are real issues for people but I hope HG still have capacity for adding new stuff along with the fixes.

To be honest i just put everything in my suit.

Then i can focus the ship on its parts. That way you can have a good fighter craft fairly early on.

I'll be back to upgrading the suit next, I've jumped from 24 slots to 33 on the ship which is a decent upgrade which should keep me going for a long time.  Suit's at 22 atm.

Does anyone know which ship upgrade, I'm assuming it's a weapons one, gives you a leading target (for want of a better term - shoot here to hit ship flying in this direction) for the cannons ?  I've had it in one ship, but none of the others.  Maybe it's related to ship class.

Some people have found unearthly paradises in their corners of the universe, and basked it the glow of mountains of gold and emeril while they become unfeasibly rich.

Some, many light years away, have dedicated themselves to figuring out the mysteries of the cosmos, and have embarked on a quest for ultimate knowledge, learning the languages and cultures of innumerable alien species as they do so.

Yet others fight with space pirates for the riches of huge capital ships groaning in and out of existence across the warp lanes of major trade hubs.

Somewhere, in his own quiet corner of space, soong has lost his ship in an attack of profound carelessness, managed to walk in the opposite direction to it for several days, and is now approximately one-tenth of the world's circumference away from it, hoping against hope that one day he'll stumble across it by accident rather than have to figure out how to use the terminals that appear at every space port and base to call it in.

No Man's Sky. Not so much a game; more the ultimate Darwin simulator.

I still reckon it will be on the radar. I walked a good 1mins from mine and it popped back up on there

The galaxy map, I have a question. You can Scan For Discoveries but for all but one attempt this has just left the icon spinning and finding nothing. That one time it did work it let me cycle back through systems I have explored previously. Is it working for anybody else?

I'm showing 'online' on the atlas\index thing most of the time.

Nope, had completely gone. I must have walked miles from it. Definitely wasn't on there and I had no direction it was in.

Just made it to the ops centre so managed to call it. Finally. Three bloody days!

Edit: I knew how to use the damn terminals! Just didn't have any near me for ages.

They don't appear at shelters/abandoned buildings/drop pods/monoliths, etc, do they? As that's all I was stumbling after.

I guess I should use those beacon scanner things more but that feels like cheating.

That's because the landscape is created using voxels.. essentially billions of fixed points in space that can be destroyed one by one but don't recognise an unattached cluster as being an object..

After having been informed in here about what hyper drive upgrades achieve, I went to my first upgraded system tonight. Graviton balls, aggressive sentinels, poison air, loads of suit upgrades and very little plutonium.

Got the next drive upgrade too.

Anyone upgraded their pulse drive? Any point?

48 exo suit slots. 3 shields on my ship and I now how the recipe to build the last warp drive upgrade. I'm sticking with this ship now I think

How many slots on your ship and how much did it cost? Thinking I'm going to save up on my current planet as incremental upgrades seem pointless as I think you get nothing for your old ship when upgrading.  Got a venom sac and emeril filled world that's rather lucrative so seems like a good place to stay.

I did, briefly, but I couldn't tell any difference from the base drive. The description isn't really very clear as to what it's supposed to upgrade; if I remember correctly, it talks about two things that both seem pointless: increased manoeuvrability - useless since you can't manoeuvre when using pulse drive - and reduced fuel usage - useless since the pulse drive barely uses any fuel anyway and even if it did, there's infinite Thamium9 in the asteroid belts around every planet.
