No Man's Sky - Interceptor

Oh man I found a recipe for suspension fluid! I can now craft warp fuel without buying anything!

Separately, a word of warning: if you reload a save game it seems that the red boxes you find with multi tools will change their contents! I found a great upgrade and bought it immediately, but forgot to break down all my old bits first.  So I reloaded the save, but the multi tool offered was crap  after that! :(  I thought it may just be random each reload, but continuous reloads just kept offering me the same crappie multi tool.

^ I feel like I've seen everything in a few hours. The planet I started on had everything: ruins, abandoned stations, loads of rare minerals, a factory, intelligent signs of life (ran out of inventory space so didn't get to that one). I go to the next planet and there's fuck all there, it's got a toxic atmosphere and not much else.

I have two issues.

(1) Have I dreamt this or isn't there places on a planet where you can access the network to sell stuff? I can't seem to find them anymore. The nearest space station is far away and I always get attacked on my way to it.

(2) I need to upgrade my multitool. Haven't done it as I have been saying all my credits for suit upgrades and a new ship. But now I don't get any more offers for a new tool, is there a special place where you can buy a new tool?

Only made a single jump, 6 planets in this system so I have spent hours just discovering and exploring the different planets.

Re. Multi tool, once you've done 2 or 3 hyperspace jumps, you start finding buildings with a single launch pad and a robot dude inside.  They pretty much always have a red box on the wall you can use to buy a new multi tool.   They generally  tend to have shops too.

Flying up to space and visiting the local station doesn't take long though!

I figured out how to scan birds!

You have to shoot them out of the sky and scan the dead corpse.

It seems somewhat at odds with my intention of playing like an interstellar Darwin.

I returned to my home system and hit 100% species found on my starting planet. Yay! Thing is, it seems to have revealed a bug. All the planets I have visited now say 100% complete, regardless of how many species there are scanned or unscathed. I actually got to 100% on a second planet shortly afterwards, but it didn't log in the milestones and it didn't allow me to claim the big reward of units. I've jumped around a few planets and even gone to new systems - they are all saying 100% complete now.

Anyone else experienced this?

Regarding the milestones - I have maxed out the ones for walking distance and language learned. That seems to have been achieved very early, so I'm hoping it's not a sign that there is less left for me to do than I hoped.

The game seems to have taken it's gloves off - one particularly nice looking foresty planet I visited had about 50% of the indigenous creatures trying to kill me. Floating tentacle crab things, huge armadillo looking mofos and in the caves these little creepy bugs were chasing me - particularly nasty as they were so small it was hard to see them under the vegetation.

Then I visited another planet, landed in a field full of little bipedal bird/dinosaur things. I fed them all and they were all running around digging up stuff and finding plants for me, then trailing me around happily. Even this giant goatcow came along and joined in. I felt like Dr. Doolittle.

Next world I saw these little fox sized things getting literally kicked around by a giraffe sized rhinoceros. I got a bit close and it started chasing after me instead. I left there in a hurry, only to be attacked and destroyed in space before I could reach the station. I was able to take out one of my attackers, but there seemed to be four or five of them. I only just traded up my ship for more stock space, and it seems I will now have to use it all for weapons and shields ><

There are multiple pages to flick through per each category of upgrades. You sure it's not just on page two?

Nope, I've checked. If there's more than one page, it always defaults back to the first one anyway. So if there was more than two pages, that first page would be full of exo suit blueprints. But it isn't. Filtering by Health to check for the blueprint I supposedly already knew, there is nothing there. I've since done a google search, and other people seem to be having the same problem.

Regarding Atlas, I too ignored the initial orb, is it still possible to pick up that storyline if I want to? I'm only two or three steps into the story so far; did my first jump then picked up the Antimatter formula on the planet I warped to.

Yes, look for crash sites. That's where I found the same pod thing that was there at the start of the game. Crash sites are often revealed by choosing the transmission scan from those uplink sites (the orange beams).

I've not 100% scanned a single planet yet, tho didn't realise I had a scanner until I reached Lando System (after my first jump). I'm close on Mushroom Kingdom so may pop back there if the new system I've just reached isn't grabbing me (course it will).

i have to go to IKEA now (the real world place)...feel my pain.

On the multi-tool do you get a bonus if you put certain abilities next to each other in the slots?

Yes, if your upgrades for the same thing (mining beam, boltcaster, scanner, etc) are touching each other, you'll see they get a coloured line around them to show they're getting a bonus.

I think a few people from here have run into this. For me, planets I landed on immediately after my first 100% world were showing as completed straight away, but I could still upload barren worlds and have them count against the milestone, and then at some point something has happened to make it start tracking new worlds properly again - old worlds that initially tracked as 100% done are still wrong - but I have no idea what that thing was. I had a couple of crashes, so perhaps restarting the game fully has some effect.

How do you move upgrades around to take advantage of this?

Sorry for the noob question, took me an age to work out square reloads your weapon...took a right beating trying to get into a sealed base before figuring that out.

A nice technique is if your only a planet with lots of drones and a fair weapon, kill em and get their titanium and merge that with the usually plentiful amounts of plutonium. Instant 30k gem things (assuming you have the crafting abilty - but its within the first systems if you...you know..go to church).

Can you explain this a bit more? I keep noticing a tooltip saying that some metals can be mixed into alloys or something, but I haven't found a crafting recipe to do it yet. I don't understand your hint about going to "church"... I'm following the Atlas path.

Toxic planet does not seem to have any dwellings with a trade post inside, annoyingly. Although I've got a good few more recipes for suit tech, and tons of alien words.

Visiting this last Ruin then heading out to the space station to sell my gold, not sitting on quite as many credits as I had when I landed due to finding about four suit upgrades  within a very short space of time, which I obviously bought.

Did discover that even if a dwelling doesn't have a landing pad, you can still land & take off for free if it has one of those small red beacons outside. :)

woo hoo, I'm a millionaire - found a nice planet with fairly light sentinel activity and piles of that Emiril stuff lying around in big blobs.

saved for now but planning to get myself a couple of mill by milking it all I can then head to the nearest space station to lord it up like a boss perusing craft to buy

never known a game make a couple of hours disappear so quickly not really doing much.

Those Trade items in the green colour, what is wise to do with them. I carry 20 of them with me, hoping to bump into an alien race/faction who accepts them as form of payment, but no luck so far. Should I just sell them at a vendor for moon bucks?

suit upgrades are either in "pods" or ahem spoiler

  Hide contents

they are behind nearly every Atlas lv1 pass door in every space station, just follow the atlas path for about 5-6 jumps and you'll get the pass if you answer correctly. If not then look for pods.. if you find a doobry that asks for a bypass chip then bypass it and ask to find a "shelter" it'll usually point you to a suit upgrade pod

question:

i got to the first Atlas Instance (space station), but still no pass - have I missed something?
