No Man's Sky - Interceptor

This really isn't clicking for me.

I missed the Atlas thing everyone's talking about right at the start so it all feels totally directionless.  I warped to my second system but it feels just like my first one.  I'm flying around collecting all the same crap I collected last time in order to warp out of the system to another one but where am I going and why?  There was a "path to the galactic core" marked but no indication as to whether I should follow this or what I would be trying to achieve by doing so.

Basically it feels like I've missed a whole load of context somewhere along the line and I'm lost and disoriented.  The systems themselves aren't interesting enough to make exploration worthwhile, it's the same half-dozen points of interest on every planet with a load of walking in between them.

I'm not getting anything like the sense of wonder and adventure out of this as I get from Elite: Dangerous, which I guess is a fairly similar sort of game overall.

Atlas thing? I didn't see that either.

Apparently, there's 3 different endings, so I guess starting over might be a possibility for some (although, having to delete a save game to do so is crap). That said, I think it should place much greater significance on accepting the Atlas help first time around.

Huge round gem thing which kinda pulses like Bit from Tron when you interact with it. It was literally next to your knackered ship right at the start of the game.

I missed it completely .

Now that I have most of the desired mods to the exosuit and tool, I feel I need to find either a better hyperdrive or more advanced Atlas pass to keep my interest high whilst accumulating sufficient cash to buy my dream ship.  Any thoughts on how I might go about this?

My naming convention is based around Grange Hill. The barren, cold, icy, harsh planet: McClusky Death Star. The planet where everything is trippy and the creatures have bug-eyes: Zammo Centauri. The one where all the creatures have massive bellies and are queuing up to be fed: Row-land. And the place I just visited where everything was hostile and every lifeform wanted to kick my ass: Gripper Moon.

I've completely fucked up. I decided to swap for a crashed ship (only one more slot than my original one). I didn't know what I was doing and that I wouldn't be able to swap back.

Now I'm trapped on Lagavulin 8 - an extremely hostile drone planet (they attack on sight). Also full of tiny indestructible hostile crabs. I need zinc but I can't find any. I just keep getting killed.

i've got a distress signal in space marker (yellow with an !) but when i go to it nothing happens? sorry if its been answered before. help needed

I've had the same a few times, I think it's bugged. When it 'works' you get a capital ship under siege and you need to help, but completing that goal gives you nothing. Seeing the response by Gorf above, the big ships aren't always there (or anywhere), so this 'mission' is very buggy for me.

I've found the ultimate money making planet. Completely by fluke I landed next to a trading station (just a galaxy trading interaction on its own), the planet is full of gold and very expensive Venom Sacks, both of which are going for higher than average prices on the market. I've made 2mil in less than thirty minutes and most of that was mining the gold. New ship in no time 8-)

Over 50 on milestones now, how is everybody else doing?

When the new QA team add that ticketing system, I really hope it's accessible through the game. I found a typo on a blueprint description, completely low priority, but reporting it means fetching an image off the PS4 and then emailing them. I suspect they'll only get bug reports from fairly dedicated people using that mechanism.

Speaking of bugs, I learned the Gek word for TRNSTR_GEK_PSYCHOL earlier.

I followed the atlas thing thinking it was just something that would stick a waypoint down on the planet. I'm sure I went back to it again and it asked the same question so I picked the other answer.

No idea what it's about but it mentioned following that or two other guys? Can't remember their names Poko and Kliv or something like that.

I've just ignored all that and am trying to 100% a planet but that involves scanning each type of plant? Gonna take forever to do a quintillion.

I've literally just started this as im working nights, played it for an Hour at best,  loved what I played of it.

Saw the potential when I was offered a " Big Fuck Off Gun " for 51,00000000  or whatever credits by a Scout.

ive left it at a nice spot as my ship is ready to fly.

this is a Gameplay over Graphics textbook example.  And I love it!

I've defended two freighters and both times been rewarded with improved standing with the Gek.

Personally I could look at the ships in this game all day long, and it's cool seeing them attacking the bigger ones, but the dogfighting is certainly simplistic. We're into "Moon on a stick" territory really, given everything else the game does, but I can't help but wonder how much more incredible it would be if it had a system as deep as Tie Fighter.

I haven't seen one yet, but I'm only on my second system on the critical path (having gone to a random one first).

I spent most most of the evening back on the moon of Harambe. It's radioactive with frequent storms, and if not for the slightly wacky flora I could replicate the trek to the derelict ship in Alien.

The thing I find startling about the procedurally generated planets in this is that at a local level they somehow seem to have totally different personalities and atmospheres, almost to the point that you could swear they were designed. All of my planets so far have felt like real, memorable places.

The only fly in the ointment is overpopulation. From a gameplay perspective it's extremely addictive stopping off at every ? point on the way to your next main objective, but these would feel much more rewarding if they were more rare. Likewise the sheer amount of air traffic just feels a bit silly, even if I haven't yet tired of ogling the various ships. I think they could have been more brave in that respect - I'd happily explore completely uninhabited worlds for the pay off of finding one that was inhabited.

Love this, a real relaxing time sink. However, how the hell do you switch between different weapons in your ship??? I have a cannon and a beam and both say "press x" I can't even see how to use one over the other; never mind switch on the fly.

Any ideas? Please!
