there does some to be a lot of god squads. But in some ways the market and good cards are more accessible than ever! I mean, 350k~ gets you Messi, Neymar and CR7 at the moment - all three. Sure they might not be the best cards in the game any longer but they are still absolutely useable top class cards. This year Fifa for me has been about resisting urges to spend coins, waste coins, drain coins on gambling SBCs and changing team every week. It does need some discipline which can make it feel more like a job than a hobby but that’s your only realistic way, if you’re not lucky enough to have loads of real money disposable income to pile into the game.

I think you could say I don't play this the way EA want me to.  I'm sitting on 1.6mil which is more than I ever have (so trading has definitely changed), and have been for about 2 months.  I've got a prem boys team this year and I've still not upgraded my Mo Salah from near the start, because only recently have I felt its necessary.  Origi, David and Aubameyang are my choices up front, Flashback Varana and TOTY Rudiger in defence.  The only place I really want to spend cash in is the goalkeeper but I've not seen a keeper that has consistently impressed me overall.  Keepers at the start of the game were perfect I thought, but the whiny fuckers moan enough at EA until they patch them into a load of inept idiots.  I certainly enjoy the game, I don't enjoy Friday night Weekenders but the rest is great.  What I really dislike it's the ridiculous amount of special cards they have done this year and the blatant attempt to get kids to spend spend spend on packs.

 

Quite simply they get my money at the beginning of the game and they can fuck off if they think I'll spend a penny more.

I think they've lost me for good now. They can't keep the servers up to a standard that will allow me to reliably play it without issue, yet they're constantly churning out new cards to encourage people to keep spending. It's been apparent that they're not interested in the state of the game for years, but they've really taken the piss this time around. 

 

Which is a shame, because when it works, as it did at the start of the season before Battlefield launched, it still plays a good game of football. I was always likely to skip the next game anyway due to the human rights abuses surrounding the World Cup, but even if it weren't for that, it's not worth the effort of grinding for a new team when I can't even play the game without delay ruining it.

This is where I am mate. Server performance went off a cliff for me at some point in November and hasn't really recovered. I assume this was when Battlefield or something else put strain on things but in this day and age online performance in a game that almost entirely dedicated to online play has to work well and do so all the fucking time. No other game I have played in the last few years has ever suffered from this kind of thing.

 

I've really enjoyed building the team I have, which is the best I've ever been able to pull together but this is more a reflection on how things have run this year in the market rather than me doing something different. So yeah, unless there is some kind of big improvement on the support for online performance and also everything non-Ultimate Team related then I may well skip it for a year too.

Me three for the server problems, or the lag problems, or the delay problems, or whatever the actual problem is.

 

I really enjoyed those three/four months of this Fifa, when it works it's an absolute cracker of a game. And I can honestly say I got my money's worth for that period. 

But when it doesn't work - which is more often than not - I've never played any other game where I feel such a lack of control of the outcome.

I die in Battlefield because my positioning was off or I ran in front of that tank, not because I pressed a button and had to wait a full second for my gun to fire.

I crash in Gran Tourismo because I took that corner WAY too fast, not because I steered left and the game kept driving me forward.

I die in Warzone because of... well bullshit. But that's camping cunt fucking riot shield cuntface kali sticks fuckcunts who sit on buy stations like cunt cowards. Not some button delay bullshit.

 

And in Fifa, if the headline game mode is so unresponsive that it stops being any fun, why bother grinding for a team?

 

Fingers very tightly crossed for that UFL game... but I won't hold my breath.

I’m a little surprised at the number of connectivity complaints because for me after TOTY it got a lot better. Having said that I never, ever play at peak times. I’m on weekdays in the early afternoon and I’ve been doing WL on Friday late morning/early afternoon.

I took a two week break from online play which seems to have got my mojo back for playing the game. No connections issues for me fortunately but have heard from a lot having problems with it. 
 

In team news, I picked up Europa League Denayer a few weeks back for 110k and after Lyon securing qualification tonight he’s up to 250k so for a change an investment has paid off. Helps that he’s very good in game too. 
 

After building up fodder, I’m planning on doing a couple of icon SBCs this weekend, please give me Ronaldo!

How strange! I have one. Apparently it's a dynamic card, too. Doesn't look too bad.

 

Edit - also have one on my transfer list! Most I can sell for is 10k, though.

Already had him untradeable, then I just got him in an untradeable jumbo rare player pack, so I'll dump him into the 85+ x 3 I think.  Nice Friday present from EA there.

 

By the way, for those unaware, the promo means he could get up to a +3 ovr

Did a couple of icon SBCs today. Prime for 8 swap tokens gave me Zanetti and the prime upgrade threw out Hugo Sanchez. Zanetti does look good but no chance he displaces Hakimi at RB. Sanchez on the other hand will get a run in my team ahead of Icardi. There’s not much in it but Hugo is a legend so hopefully he’s good.

I quite enjoyed the Simon objective - the friendly requires players you've bought for 2000 coins or under, so it's like going back to week 1!  I don't mind the current limited friendly either.  It helps that I've got a very strong gold + TOTW team though.

 

The leaked players for the rest of the current promotion are so underwhelming.  They seem to almost all be players who already have one or more special cards.  It's a shame there's no real creativity in the selection.  I might try to pick up Dembele and Bamba, although I think the former will be very pricey.

Seeing the price of ASM I can’t see Dembele being any cheaper - madness!

I reckon I might be able to get him. I’ve got players I can sell, and I can make a couple of downgrades for the benefit of mixing it up.  I bought Messi TOTY a couple of weeks ago, but I could do with someone taller/stronger than him for heading in crosses.  Handily I just packed untradeable Gelson Martins in a Jumbo Rare Players Pack, so he can fill the gap for a while

 

Don’t forget to combine the shitty squad battles icon swap objectives. Wait until silver beasts and do the first owned championship (/eredivisie/liga portugal) silvers to hit the maximum number of birds with one stone.

I had a little bit last night, lag at the beginning of 3 matches for some reason.  It certainly doesn't make it unplayable though.  I used to get it a nearly every game around 3 or 4 FIFA's ago.  I wish they would just stop patching the game as much.  It's an idea that makes sense, correct a game that has faults, but really it's just appeasing the idiots who don't like something in the game rather than it being a fault.

I've also noticed in this FIFA the amount of players that rage early, even in rivals.  It's pretty pathetic, if they come up against someone mildly better than them they have no want to test themselves, they just crash at 2-0 or whatever.  There must be a fair few players out there that rarely get to an end of a football match🤦‍♂️

Team’s been reduced in quality somewhat with me raising Dembele coins, but can still hold its own. Gold Kante is still completely fine, but I’m hoping Dembele will end up cheaper so I can pick up TOTY Kante. I might be able to top 5 million by the weekend. I’ll never have this many coins again!

Dembélé being ST somewhat messes up my plans.  Was hoping to utilise Dani Alves at RB.  The only way I could do that now would be to use something like a 4-2-2-2 and sacrifice the wingers.  It probably means he's going to cost more, too.  Bleh.
