I seem to be fortunate to have some heading monsters as I rarely concede those. Can’t quite get it working for myself at the other end of the pitch though

Anyone else regretting not having opened a load of packs on that Friday? I’m not sure what they’ve done, but I’m guessing they were giving free packs to compensate.

 

Got the usual 51 points in weekend league (one point from the next tier). Reds were Aspas and Correa. I’m struggling with an effective CAM at the moment, so tried SS Ben Yedder this weekend, but wasn’t sold, so he’s gone. Did Payet for £10k with fodder. If he doesn’t work, I’m going to have to accept that a formation change is needed!

Yeah madness. Must be to do with false advertising as they stated you could pack Ramsdale but he was not in the packs.

I finally bought Mbappe this weekend and he pushed me to Rank 4 (14 wins), my best result yet. He's as brilliant and broken as I hoped, his only weakness is his sometimes underwhelming left foot.

I paid the 200k+ to upgrade from IF Kante to his SIF. Figured there’s always value in upgrading your mainstays. I’ve got a fair few packs waiting to be opened. As usual, I’m sitting with a load of dupes due to opening an ultimate pack. Hopefully the 78+ will be back tomorrow.

How regularly does the connection become unplayable for other people? Over the last month or so pretty much every time I play matches in all online modes are plagued with the fucking ridiculous freeze, fast forward, normal, repeat bullshit making it unplayable. How the fuck can an online game in this day and age run so bad? 
 

I sometimes find myself actually trying to still play but then wondering why I am wasting my time. Also, love the poor connection feedback you can now provide in the pause menu which is clearly a button to nothing.

I actually cant believe this game some times.  I made a perfect tackle with neymar up top to put pressure on the opposition.   Then the ball took 3 bounces, accelerating more each bounce to literally take out my midfield and go right to the opposition striker.  I had to put down the controller I was so stunned by this physics defying ball with a ridiculous bias for my opposition.   

 

I literally can't believe it.

I sold out of my England team for a bit last week. I was getting frustrated with Ramsdale in goal, plus I had an untradeable van Dijk I wanted to use and a bunch of really good untradeable La Liga players to build a much stronger team with. I ended up with a hybrid Premier League/La Liga team, with mid Rijkaard alongside van Dijk to make it work. Thoughts on that yeam are that Flashback Benzema and RTTK Fekir are still very good, Winter Hazard is fairly absurd, and Rijkaard is solid, but not really worth the coins to get him.

 

85 Ramsdale fixes my major problem with an England team however, so I'm back on it. New team is below, I switch to 4231 in game. Chilwell is temporary until I can grind out the Forest LB from the objectives or get enough coins for Cole. Rice with a shadow on him is fantastic at CDM, I'd used an engine on him in my previous team but I feel silly for doing that now. Foden can be great at times, but he's just as likely to go missing. I'm not too happy with how much he cost, but he'll be gone as soon as I get Rooney from swaps. I'm not massively impressed with Barnes, which is a huge disappointment given how much I love his baby card. There's an argument to be made for getting one of the TOTW Fodens and swapping back to baby Barnes, but I don't really want to use Foden on the wing. CBs are both very good, long term I'll swap them out for the special Tuanzebe and Gomez. My next upgrade will be Gerrard for one of his better cards though, he's OK but nothing more than that.

 

Watkins is bonkers, especially given he's only 70k. I've put this team through 7 Champions qualifiers, and he has 12 goals and 3 assists. I'm hoping he gets some upgrades down the line.

I had a look at my French players last night, I can put this together just from stuff in my club, all on full chemistry. It's already arguably better than my England team, with the 800k coins I'd get from selling out I could build something truly disgusting. I'd be a fool not to, right?

I've used a lot of players from that French team @Keiths_Dad with Fekir and Mendy still playing. There isnt a weakness I can see so its more about preference, plus that coin would go a long way to making the team even better! 

 

On the formation, how do you find the 2 'wide' CAMs play? I like the look of that set-up but worry I would suffer not having wingers or LF / RFs. Having Morales and Alessandri as those wider CAMs might actually get more out of them if they end up playing fairly central. It would leave with a decision to make around Parejo and if he will perform as more of a CDM but I have Llorente who can come back in if its an issue, or 100k to spend on an upgrade.

I've found that they play almost as wingers anyway, perhaps a little more central but not much, and there's no difficulty in playing them down the line if needed. There was a reason for me to switching to CAMs rather than wingers, but it was that long ago that I did it, and with a couple of periods where I've just stopped playing for a while, I'm fucked if I can remember why.

 

This is what I'm thinking of building, I'll have another 400k or so to play around with as well, but I don't see any value in getting Kante so I'm not sure how best to spend it.

A French team is going to be so much better than team England, some ridiculous options when you go French, helped very much by EAs love of a French player SBC.

Quite enjoying my team that @Pants McSkill assisted me with

 

Aubameyang and a numbers up Dembele up front are decimating almost everyone I come across (I've tried my first go at div rivals and hit div 6 now with only 1 loss) the only guy that came close to beating me was 4-1 up by half time, came back and won it in the 118th minute with a 6-5 victory

 

But yeah quite enjoying it atm, waiting for the next set of icon swaps as I have 6 or 7 of them now

Here's what I played in this WL, which I has the theme of 'Players I like in real life, except for Ashley Cole cos he played for Chelsea but I packed him untradeable from a base icon SBC so I might as well play him. Also Verratti, but he works for chem'.

 

Unfortunately I can't quite fit that in the team name box in game.
