Strong suspicion we will have CL cards drop proper tonight. Last year EA did Marquee Matchups to celebrate this.

 

This round of CL matches sees Spurs v Bayern and Barca v Inter.

 

I've grabbed some players from all four teams (only a couple because I'm fucking poor), because last year when this happened, Liverpool players shot up to 8k a piece.

On one CL MM Ajax players went extinct.

 

So if anyone wants to pick up some cheap golds as a gamble, there's 4/5 spurs players you can pick up for 1k-1.5k, 4-5 Inter players, and one or two Bayern & Barca players that are around 2k.

Reckon i should just do the BPM for a while on my phone build up some dollar? I dont need a fancy team but something competitive will be nice. I'll try give it a good go and play more than the 20 games a year ive been doing.

I'd BPM it as much as you can. Bronzes are shifting a fair bit as there's SBCs out that use them. Also, having a ton of contract cards and fitness cards for 'free' really helps early on - it's coins you're not wasting buying them.

So last year, EA did SBCs that required UCL cards on the Wednesday of CL games.

 

I'm going to try to pick up a couple today... 

however... 

They're currently WELL expensive. The cheapest is about 3k coins and I just don't know how much more they go up. PLUS there's no guarantee we'll have the same SBCs, I think it's less likely than the Marquee Matchups were yesterday,

 

I'd want to be getting them around 2k to not be stressing about making money on them, and I'd want to getting rare UCL cards too - there were SBCs last year that specified Rare UCL card use.

 

I think we might be better off doing other SBCs and hoping to pack one instead.

Speaking of investments, I've got about 85k tied up in cheap in forms. It's a more long term investment than Marquee Matchups, but as a general rule of thumb, they rise in value once they're out of packs, and at some point TOTW players will be needed for SBCs, which can see them go bananas.

 

The idea is to buy them at near discard value to minimise the risk - for example, if you buy an 81 rated player for 10k, his quick sell value is 9,882 coins, so even if you have to get rid immediately at some point to free up funds, you'll have lost next to fuck all.

 

Prioritise top 5 leagues, particularly Premier League and Bundesliga due to POTM SBCs, and also look at 84 rated players at low prices (several can be had for less than 12k) as there were times last year that SBCs with high rated squads caused them to sell for insane amounts.

 

Players I'm looking at closely this week are Oyarzabal, Cazorla and Blind for their ratings, and the Wolves RB might be a good buy. Ndidi looks like a great card as well, I'm thinking I'll buy one of him once his price drops - Monday and Tuesday are generally when they're at their lowest.

It was (surprise surprise) an EA fuck up, they weren’t supposed to have been released. When CL drops they should all be 1 plus the normal gold cards.

Dunno about anyone else but the game felt so so much worse last night.

 

Rebounds seemed even more frequent and unstoppable, my players were all slow and laggy, shooting still had a huge button delay and my players seems less able on the ball. Lost so many on the trot and went down to Division 7!!!

The gameplay has got progressively worse each day to be honest.

 

unresponsive, not able to dribble, everything is heavy or delayed, there's no point at all playing when it's like that, just turn it off and go play Fortnite or something.

 

Not going to bother entering FUT Champs this weekend, the gameplay isn't making me feel like i want to play that many games of Fifa over a weekend and TOTW is trash.

 

Didn't do too badly out of my Rivals rewards, got Felipe Anderson and Zaha.

They should still slowly creep up in price until tomorrow evening/Saturday morning. More and more people will be building WL squads, I'd be surprised if you didn't make some coinage.

In addition to this, Rivals rewards this morning has reminded me just how useful the rewards coins are at the start of the game. I got 25k this morning, so I'd strongly recommend playing a few games per week just to cash in. Even Squad Battles will seriously help.

Great post. I've re-invested my CL MM profits, and now have a Maddison, a Kolarov, 2 x Thuram, a Cresswell, a Ninga, and a Benedetto.

 

I want more Cresswells, he's still only 12.5k, which for an English Prem LB is crazy cheap.

Wasn’t terrible. Purchased 12 of them from 47k to 50k.

 

 

Listed the Vardys for 29k or 30k. 20 purchased at 23-25k. Sold a few already.
