Yeah, they’ll do that. This is actually what causes the market crash by the way.

Here’s how it works. On Black Friday, EA release a ton of Promo packs.

-More Packs means more supply of gold cards.

-More supply means lower prices.

So everyone tries to get ahead of this. They sell their players before Black Friday, with the plan of buying them back once prices are low... so they get the same team and more coins. 
This causes everyone to panic and sell their entire clubs because everyone else is doing it.

 

 

-Oh that sounds genius! I’ll do that.

Hold up. It worked once upon a time. The problem now is that because everyone does it, people try and get ahead of the crowd, and sell earlier and earlier every year. The fact we’ve had two people in here today asking about means that the sell-off starts now. Which is crazy because Black Friday is four weeks away yet.

 

There’s a few things to take into consideration. First off, the price drop only really affects gold cards. Special cards, while they stagnate or drop a small amount, are generally immune.

This is because there’s less of them. Less supply, see? There’s no more In-Form Bailly’s hitting the market, because they are out of packs. So if your team is made up of special cards, you might not want to flog them, as it’s doubtful they’re getting any cheaper.

 

Second, you’ll have to play Fifa for the next four weeks with a shit team. That’s 4 weeks of trying to compete in WL against Icons with Aurier at RB cos that’s the only cheap way of getting PotM Lucas in the team. If you like your team, why spend a month not playing with it knowing you could be having more fun?

 

Thirdly, Black Friday itself isn’t actually the market trough. Prices rise back up very quickly as people buy their teams back – again, trying to beat the crowd by doing it earlier and earlier. You mis-time it and you may even buy the team back at the same price you sold it.

 

 

-So should I do nothing? I don’t know!

Look, here’s the thing. If you’ve got any higher rated/higher value golds that you don’t use in your team, get rid and take the coins.

If you‘ve got any golds you’re holding on to in the hope they go up, get rid and take the coins.

Otherwise, if you’re really, really concerned, you can do your homework. Go find a similar Fifa 18 player to the one you’re concerned about.

You can do this with any player on FUTbin.

 

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you’ll see a graph.
Click ‘all’ and it gives you the price across the whole of Fifa 18.

This time last year he was worth 53k. Two weeks later on November 16th, after bouncing around he was worth 56k. Then his price tumbled, Black Friday saw him hit 35k, but the following Tuesday he was back up to 39k. Then it continued to plummet, two weeks later he was only worth 16k.
From then on, down he went, as he got In-Forms, a ratings revision and people moved on to better strikers.

 

SO IF YOU SOLD HIM AT THIS POINT LAST YEAR and played with a shit team for a month, you actually would have lost out on 3k than if you waited for a further two weeks.

After which, you would have saved yourself 20k, only to see him be worth 20k less a fortnight after Black Friday. Better than losing 40k on him of course.

This makes it your decision. Would you rather play with him for a month or would you rather have an extra 20k?

 

THE MAIN POINT here is to not panic. Because as you can see, there’s no need.

Also, I'm so very happy this was the opposition's team name I got to clinch it against.

Hilariously, with 6 games remaining, I'd almost certainly get Gold 2 if I was so inclined to push on.

I'll take this though, for my second ever Weekend League.

He was playing rivals after me so got a taste of his own medicine in the form of War Pigs by Black Sabbath at full volume. He conceded so realised what it’s like when he does it! 

 

I did take pity on him and win the game after that seeing as I’m kind :ph34r:

Well... I lost in the 92nd minute to a deflection off my centre back, so had to win my final game.

 

it was 2-2 at half time, squeaky bum time.

 

not gonna lie I was feeling drained, I didn’t think elite was on, thought I was stopping at gold 3. Considered stopping at silver 1.

 

Against the top players it’s such a grind, so few chances, you have to punish a mistake, you can’t afford a mistake, it’s hard and it feels like it goes on forever. 

 

Lets hope on Thursday evening it was all worth it.
