Merts is on my bench. He's been a solid stalwart until recently. Higs is great, just finds anyway to score! And im loving the big/small slow/fast of them both at the moment. But yeah, I do swap them around a bit, Gomez still gets a look in as well, he's lovely.

Thought I’d try something different with my Brazil team and sacrifice a bit of flair for more of a solid setup and its got me two wins in a row in the WL so far . The strength of Allan, Fernandinho and Paulinho seems to be helping me to retain the ball much better in midfield as well as their obvious defensive talents. My speed merchants are able to make more of an impact off the bench against tiring opponents so hoping that this will help me with the push for a gold finish.

I went 4-1 in my 5 ranking matches. Including 2 rage quits and a 3-0 spanking of the opponent.

Which left me pretty dumbstruck to be honest.

 

I savoured this, as I did worry that it would drop me into a top match with a far superior opponent. Which is exactly what happened.

Spent the first half utterly outplayed, chasing shadows, like a kid who'd never held a PS4 controller before. Got to halftime 1-0 down and having had 0 shots.

 

Changed things around, focused on the basics. And the second half was a lot better. I only lost 2-0. AND I ended up with three solid chances to score, two of which would have been goals if I used timed finishing on the headers.

Weirdly, this has really filled me with confidence in my game. I know I'm not great. but I'm not as terrible as I thought either.

 

A strange story of how I got deservedly beaten, but I'm feeling pretty chuffed right now.

11-11 now, Silver 1 achieved so anything from here is a bonus. 3 wins from the last 8 secures gold 3 which I’m pretty confident in doing, 6 from 8 for gold 2 would be the stuff of dreams 8-)

 

Almost blew a win in my last game tonight though, 2 up and cruising, they pulled a goal back then equalised in the 92nd minute after I got a bit too cocky with trying to retain the ball in my own half until the final whistle. Thankfully Paulinho the heading monster popped up at a corner in extra time!

I’ve switched to two strikers with IF Talisca alongside him, it does seem to free him up and offer him more space to play into.

likewise to @MardiganX don’t even attempt the icon SBC yet, just make sure you have enough to buy an icon to put in it but the rest of the players should drop dramatically.

Pants Built a Million Coins – Next Steps

Heavy trading in Champions League and Scream cards saw our Transfer Profit sail past the 1.5 million mark this week.

Also a Scream SBC dropped requiring exactly silver players, which suddenly made that 50k purchase of 10 silver player packs far more agreeable.

Hoarding silvers is genuinely my favourite long term strategy.

 

 

 

Having tried a lot of different ways of making coins, going forward I’m sticking to CL cards, In-Forms and the trusty Bronze Pack Method.

 

Marquee Matchup investing has been a bit of a bust, with EA usually making requirements very generic. Equally, PotM investing has suffered the same issue – like when Reus wins, his SBC requires a high-rated squad including Dortmund players and Kagawa doesn’t go above 1500 coins… forget about it.

 

One To Watch trading is certainly predictable, and if you can do it you’ll make plenty of coins. But I don’t have it in me to set reminders for specific times on specific days to buy/sell cards. So it’s not my bag.

 

I do have one other little method that I like, overnight mass min-bidding. I started with MLS silvers and have since moved on to other leagues. Its very much a longer term thing, the short term pays no coins, but it’s very safe too and pays out massively when an agreeable SBC hits.

 

So what’s the end goal?

Well… that new Icon SBC is very interesting.

Prime Rio Ferdinand is an end-game CB.  I’ve never had a player like that in all my years of FUT. Come Black Friday, I’ll be shocked if it isn’t do-able for >800k.

But is it wise to splash that much cash on an untradeable card?

What if he is usurped by some new cards next spring we don’t know about?
Well, in years without Rllmuk leagues, or BAP, or FTLs I always stop playing Fifa come January/February. BattleField V is out in a month – given BF1 is my most played game this year I’ll be on that like flies on shit. Plus I sink 500 hours plus into Football Manager every year… and this year’s version has some serious upgrades. Fifa just won’t be what I’m playing by the time Rio is ever unusable.

 

So, new goal = A team built around Prime Rio Ferdinand by sometime around Black Friday.

I’ll just need to work out what the rest of that team is.

Well managed to scrap Silver 1. Last game was proper tough but kept my cool and after a drawn out 1-1 I managed a cheeky 78th min goal and held off the assault to claim victory.

Yes, I did last week to invest, and looking at the players I sold, a few barely moved but most of them dropped by a lot.
