I got some 79 rated dude and some other crap. Pack luck has deserted me it seems.

 

On investments, I've stocked up on a bunch of IFs at about 10.5k, about 10 of an 82 rated Barca CB, with either Barca vs Inter Milan or the Classico likely to show up in SBCs this week, and Pepe Scream Team at 26k, immediately relisted at 35k to see if anyone bites. No doubt I'll get some ROI on that, but I'm not expecting too much.

Guys when defending does anyone use the R1 button to get another player to harass the opponent?

 

I do and I'm wondering if maybe this is the cause for my Defending woes?

 

Maybe its pulling CB's out of position leaving gaps for the opposing side to get in!?

I do @Jerec but usually only to pressure on the wings or to crowd the edge of the box to block shots. Rarely use it outside my defensive third as it can leave big gaps.

I move all my buttons about, as I am absolute madman*.  So if you mean 'teammate contain', then no, rarely.  It's so dangerous.  Someone doing 1-2's can exploit a gap too easily.  Just jockey.  

 

*I like to have all of my defending controls on the face, so I don't have to fuck about with the shoulders.  It made sense in my head anyway and now I can't change!

I think thats why I'm giving away so many goals, I'm holding R1 and its pulling my defence apart, so a winger will be chased by my CB's, he then passes up to his CM/CAM/ST and theres openings.

 

Has to be it.

 

Also explains why the people I'm playing, the defence is actually defending and blocking me.

I let my teammate contain then mark the spaces manually. Works much better.

But do you see what I mean about the AI defending?

 

Whenever I'm on the edge of the box, there are at least 3 defenders on me and they all get in front of me and deflect the shot.

 

My CB's do not do this, it has to be because of me holding the R1.

 

Need to break this habit!

 

Maybe I need to rewatch some videos of me playing, see what I'm doing wrong vs what the opposition is doing.

I've just done the Middlesbrough one. (Says 20k cost, only cost me about 10k because I already had a couple of players.)

 

Word of warning though, just because the pack value is more, is still doesn't always equate to actual value, but is a way of getting packs cheaper than buying them.

 

My Boro pack I opened might as well had said, Fuck. You.

Tried a narrower formation to get Fernandinho, Allan and Paulinho as a CM wall but it was a total failure so back to wingers I go, with a new face on the left. 

 

In game tactics change this to 433(4) or 4231(2), the second of which I really like.

4231(2) became my go to move this weekend. I started off my using it to combat certain formations now I just use it against all formations.

 

After mourning the loss of sweet sweet Hazard, I moved to Son Heung-min to fill the void. And he was amazing, I think I ended up winning something like 8 out of 9 with him (And Firminho) in the team.

 

Ended with 14 Wins from 19 played.

I know he is pricey for his rating but Fred is brilliant, he is the closest thing to Kante (Who isnt Kante) you will get in the premier league.

I have only done the very basic SBCs and have 102k sitting in my sparkly pink Care Bear purse. Are there ones I should really be doing rather than just sitting with coins I have nothing to do with?

I've been playing on World Class (not sure if this happens on Pro/below) , if you just jog (no sprinting) when they have the ball, they copy you and do the same.  Piss easy to defend against.  You only need to score 1 goal and you've won.

I like him, but he can't finish very well!  He's got a demon cross though if you get a Catalyst Chem on him (crossing & vision 99) and then his speed/acceleration also both go up to 99 too!

 

The amount of goals I've scored with the low, driven cross to the far post from him to Cuadrado/Mertens is silly.  You know the 'hold down RB' pass?  Get him in a bit of space and it flies.

A combo of going out Saturday, then spending Sunday fighting a minging hangover as a result of going out Saturday means I only managed 13 games in my first ever Weekend League.

 

But I did notch up 6 wins, and almost hitting a 50% win ratio is far better than I expected.

My goal was Silver 3, so to hit it having played less than half the available games is a fist pump moment for sure.

 

Here's the team I used, switching to 4231 in game, then having 3 other tactics that I swapped to when things weren't going well, most commonly the 433(5) with Werner as a false 9.

 

 

 

Gnarbry and Tolisso were unsurprisingly terrible. Maguire is an utter rock. Werner got 13 in 13 for me.

 

Will build a new team today. I'd like to keep Timo, but it may be tough.
