The change from 18 wins to 11 doesn’t kick in until next WL so it’s back to qualifying school after a silver 1 finish for the weekend.

 

Only bright spot was finding SIF Immobile who scored 40 in 28. 

 

I really need to work on my defending as scoring isn’t a problem but I was leaking far too many and blowing leads on a regular basis. I have my full backs and CDM set to stay back but they still seem to roam too much and leave gaps.

Who do you have in Defense? What are their work rates? And do you set up on Ultra Defensive or Park the Bus?

Same for me, I had a shocking weekend, 8 wins, 3 matches to go.

 

Defending is just so difficult, the teams with the Icardi's and Martial's just bowl through the centre of the pitch up to the box and put a goal in the top corner with no trouble. yet I struggle to get a shooting opportunity as I'm suddenly swarmed?

 

Is it a setting I need to amend? Why do my defenders all seem to run around or away from the person with the ball but I get three people come straight me at the other end?

I was 19-4 and it went a bit tits up yesterday, I was playing good Fifa until the servers went down. 

 

Started playing again when I was over tired stupidly, and lost a few games in a row. Left myself with 9 games and needed to win all 9.

 

I won 8 and lost one in ET where I conceded 4 goals from kick offs.

 

I did secure elite monthly though, quite pleased with that as I stopped at 18 wins last weekend so had an uphill task.

Qualified for the next WL at the first attempt, first time ever I think. Shooting boots back on with 20 in 4 and a more patient play style seemed to work in keeping things tighter at the back. 

 

It will no doubt fall to bits in fut Champs but glad I’m not going to be raging at DKTs for a change :D

What did you finish on Jerec? Any improvement over last week?

 

I finished on 20/40, but lost 6 games on penalties. I hate penalty shoot outs! They’re so hard to take when the directional arrow isn’t there. The amount I end up putting 10 yards wide is unbelievable. And then if I compensate it ends up going straight down the middle. Oh what to do...

Nay I was on 8 wins with three remaining. I had a terrible terrible run, first 12 games were losses, just crazy good players. Good chance for Silver 2 but the network was playing up so left it hoping for an extension, but at least the EA help has got me into this weekends.

 

You are doing well mate, have to hook up for a couple of friendlies :)

I've gotten better at penalties. I save between a third and a half. When in goal, look at the head of the player taking the penalty. They look where the player has their stick, so you can read them this way. I never dive, I'll just walk my goalkeeper a little to the left or a little to the right. This way you will save most penalties that go down the middle and most that are put low either side. People aren't very good at finding the corners and it'll often just dribble into the keeper's hands.

Taking penalties is harder. The best place to put them is low half way between the middle of the goal and the post, maybe 1/3 power. Be very wary of your player's head giving away where you're putting it! Keep it central until late.

When taking, I read a tip that I often follow. Put every single penalty in the same spot. This works a surprising amount because your opponent thinks 'he'll change for this one, surely'. Of course this doesn't work every time but it's a pretty consistent tactic!

Follow this and you'll win more than you lose!

Beware of relying on that though, I often emphasise the head movement in one direction to try to fool the keeper then ping in down the other side.
