In terms of stand out players for me Timo Werner is on another level. Scored 25 in 21 games for me and seems so well rounded with his pace and ball retention. Unless I can get an absolute top tier striker or Icon Larsson then I can't see him being dropped from any team I use.

I use the driven lob to play a ball like that and it's very effective. Normally you can catch the player in space and defence don't react with the pace of it. Only issue is it's harder to control, more so with a 75 striker. 

 

I like to play risky. I am ultimately a showy fucker, I just enjoy outplaying people with a weak team.

Ha! Yeah, my draft game has gone to shit. It's tough to claw back points with so few transfer options around.

 

Back to Fifa:

While my 4321 works in Squad Battles, after a couple of games online (and after listening to all your advice) I'm switching up to a 4231 for a bit more defensive solidarity. 

Getting Reus and Mkhitarian into the same team on 10 chem is a ball-ache, so I'm going to have to drop Zuber. 

Here's what I'm going to go with:

I'm using the 3man-midfield basics of one tackler, one runner and one passer.

Any weaknesses or suggestions for improvement? I do have 'nuff skrillah' floating around in my coin bank.

Yeah Pants I use the 4231 formation, it works pretty well. In fact if we're in the school of sharing clips, I streamed a session of mine the other night (pre GK and CDM upgrades!) which is here: https://go.twitch.tv/videos/186205107. Can't remember how I did, won some and lost some though. The key with 4231 in my opinion is definitely not allow your CDMs to wander too far forward (so no one-two passes where possible - you can see I mainly stick to that in the video).

 

Btw Pants your team looks good but personally I'd bin Javi Martinez for someone quicker (Rudiger?). 51 pace just won't cut it against the best strikers.

Bought 40 Sunderland gold players for 350 each in anticipation of something Sunderland related for the Halloween SBCs as mentioned in this thread.

Never sold the players, just flogged them all at 800 each :hat:

Played two, won two so far on the weekend league but it's already doing my head in and might forego the rest. Game two I won 5-2 in extra time but how it even got to extra time god knows, I had 18 shots on target and he had 2 - full time score 2-2. Past FIFAs used to reward good play a lot more, the newer ones things are a lot more uncertain and inconsistent. Why does it feel like when I'm on top in a game, my GK turns into a baboon on stilts? This might make a fun game when everyone can feel like they have a chance no matter the score, but for a satisfying experience it does not make.

I’ve got 13 games left, won 9 so far so no chance of getting up to the 18 required for gold 3 and automatic qualification for next week. 

 

It’s been a bit of a grind with a fair share of rage along the way so I’m in two minds about trying for next weekend and might just do squad battles instead.

You might as well play as many as you can mate, it's still the best way to make coins.

 

As an aside, I decided against prime Petit, I done the loan and while he's pretty phenomenal he's not worth the 1mil+ it would cost to do and especially when he has no sale value. 

 

So I bought the 88 rated Petit for 825k

 

hes still blonde, quick and his names still a porno flick so I'm happy with that, it does mean I'm even more desperate to get Patrick Vieira though.

Have sunk most of my weekend into Online Seasons. The initial tips from you chaps have certainly helped. So thank you. 
However...

It's really disheartening how bad I am at this after thinking I was improving by regularly beating World Class on Squad Battles. I'm just too old I think, I can't move my fingers quickly enough to get the game to do what I want. I used to be really god at video games, I mean, I was never much cop at Fifa but Halo, Battlefield, the early Call of Duty's I was belting. Not anymore old man.

Still, I'll keep persevering... I guess...

 

Have dropped Ibra, while he's undoubtedly class he just slows everything up. Mobile forwards are what I need.

I think I'm getting to grips with the 4231, but struggle to break down ultra defensive sides - which is 75% of them.

But on the otherhand, I dumped some of my club last night/this morning and have broken past the 600k mark.

40% of the way to a Ronaldo, who will fix all my shitness. :ph34r:
