Children of Morta is absolutely brilliant, and I'm very curious about One Step From Eden. Good month for those alone.

Adding Indivisible feels a bit ethically weird, though, given the horrific events surrounding the studio in recent months (i.e. high profile resignations followed by sacking of the entire studio at the hands of founder Mike 'creepy bellend' Z, which also happens to mean the game will never be feature complete). I suppose it depends where the Humble money went.

I'm guessing it's going straight into 505 Games' pockets. Lab Zero always had a deal with Indivisible's crowdfunding that if they met the quota, 505 would put up the rest of the dev money. Lab Zero didn't have a hand in the Switch port at all, so I'd presume that 505 gave enough money to have a majority stake in the IP to do shit without Lab Zero's input.

So, yay for Mike Z getting fucked, nay for 505 Games because they're kind of arseholes as well.

I'll be honest, I was expecting a bit more pizazz for Christmas with, at best, a couple of games I'd get (Shining Force and The Beast Within, though I've read that's more of a horror game which puts me off). And even Shining Force is due to my happy memories of the Mega Drive and Saturn games - never played any of the action RPGs.

Due to all the pausing my original annual sub - which was due to run out in September - is currently not due to finish until next July. It's not been a good investment.

By contrast, I saw that and thought to myself that it's one of the best months they've had in ages, what with it including the incredible Pathologic 2, plus a decent selection of games I've not tried but have been on my wishlists (Minoria, follow-up to the Momodora series of metroidvanias; Not Tonight, post-brexit bouncer-em-up; Ancestors, odd and [in]famously opaque evolve-em-up).

Yep, looks pretty good to me. Ancestors was on my wishlist and more importantly there are a lot of games there that are PC exclusive, aren't on another sub service and most of them have either not been bundled before or not been cheap before. Isthereanydeal says that their historical lowest combined cost is £96.56.

I'd much rather see months like this than games that have been on game pass for months previous or games that have been bundled a hundred times before.

Cracking effort from Humble to make even £4.44 seem poor value this month!

Has 'Not Tonight' been rebranded? I'm sure I saw it Steam previously called something else?

I can't say it's a bundle that appeals overall. I would only really go for Chaosbane because I do like my ARPGs, nothing else grabs me, so I'll probably pause again.

Or maybe just take that and give all the other codes away, else I'll never get through my initial 12-month sub (which still has 8 months to go, despite taking it back November 2019 (or whenever they introduced the new system.)

I was joking really. I think there’s one or two things in there I’ll happily try. I’m assuming Pathologic is a horror thing I’ll probably want to stay well clear of!

Well, it is and it isn't. I've no stomach for 'traditional' horror games - anything designed to be actually frightening is beyond my ability to enjoy. Can't hack Alien Isolation, the Resident Evil remakes, Silent Hill, Layers of Fear or any of that lot. Even the brief jump-scare section of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was too much for me.

Pathologic isn't at all like that - it's a horror game inasmuch as it's discomforting and surreal, but it isn't ever 'scary'; it's an open-ended first-person RPG set in a town in the throes of a plague, over twelve days. You're the sole doctor and have to interact with various people and factions to try and get the best outcome. There's no other game quite like it (well, apart from the original Pathologic, which it's a pseudo-remake of).

It's very unforgiving, and you assuredly will do poorly on your first playthrough. I'd strongly recommend anyone try it, however - especially if you've got it in a bundle like this.

To pay it forward, I have keys up for grabs for:

PC Building Simulator

Ancestors

Pathologic 2

First come, first served via PM and please only ask for 1 initially (you can come back for seconds if no others are claimed).

I will have one at the start of next month you can have. I loved it when I got to review it. I've got too much on to bother unlocking early though :)

Ancestors got press when the dev accused reviewers of not actually playing the game before criticising it. Funnily enough my review got screen time in Jim Sterling's video about it. The initial release actively worked against you playing it but it has apparently been improved since then.

I almost bought Pathologic 2 and Minoria in the sale so happy with those.

Thank you for the very kind offer! I'd take you up on it but forum hero @Gabe has sorted me out already :)

Anyway, I've been meaning to check out Pathologic 2 after it scored highly in Edge but seemed to be largely ignored elsewhere. I'm hoping it's still on Game Pass.
