I caught a bit of the movie last night, scientists were talking about how some of the robots were built by computers so even they weren't sure how they worked now...thought that was interesting as to who in the show is building them and what they're hidden agenda could be.

Then Christan Bale broke his mate out of jail with a pie.

I'm so confused right now,

  Reveal hidden contents

Is there 2 men with a black hat? (3 inc Ed Harris) Is the black hat guy who is a friend of the guy who seems to into that main woman robot the same guy as the one who knifed a bullet out the lady at the end of the episode the same person? or is that two different people?

Haha how is it so hard? The three people with black hats all look different, sound different, and have different scenes/stories/companions. The only thing similar between them is a black hat but even then the hats are different styles.

This could finally be the great successor to Lost. Whatever anyone says about the show and how it ended, there has been no TV show like it since. Some have tried and failed miserably.  What I'm getting at, is that there hasn't been a show that could could create so much speculation and theories.  Remember the Lost thread in here? Was always popular with folks with their theories.  What I loved about that show the most and so far this is doing the same.  I'm so waiting for a Host to find a hatch and end up in the command centre.

I just caught up with ep 4, and the posts here since. One thing that slightly puzzled me (and surprised it not mentioned) is the shouty sweary British guy who now appears to be absent? Has the actor/character been replaced with that other guy directing the action now?

He has a minor role and only didn't appear in one episode. Bit early to jump to conclusions isn't it?

Wouldn't surprise me if he quit after getting squashed by Hopkins at his last presentation. I suspect they would have made that a part of the episode though, so its probably business as usual.

Oh God, I don't want to ride on that merry-go-round again. I hope it doesn't end up being some kind of spiritual successor to Lost. I just hope it does its own thing.

any mention of Lost fills me with fear as I always thought that was make it up as you go along crap, and I'm more hopeful there is actually a big plan in place for this.

Two consecutive episodes he's been missing from. Was hoping the new guy we saw (who seemed to have a similar 'directorial' role) was a replacement. But imdb says no, he's back in the next episode.

You don't have the hopeful. They already stated they have a 5 season arc planned, which they worked out between the pilot which was shot ages ago, and the actual series.

Heads up - Vincenzo Natali, director of episode 4 and also Cube, Splice, amongst other stuff is on a bonus Decoding Westworld today. He's always very entertaining on the slashfilmcast, so going to listen later, hopefully he'll have some good insights.

What new guy?

The only character I remember from this week's who had a "directorial role" was the guy who previously went off with the behavioural programming woman to catch the stray - i.e. the guy with the gun.

A lot of new stuff to go over in this week's episode, and I'm still lost on how the park actually works in terms of hosts harming other guests because

Spoiler

the asshole executive seemed to be getting beat up pretty bad - twice.

This also seemed like the mid-season

Spoiler

nudity

episode. While we're only five episodes in, I can feel this veering into Lost territory even more now, as lots of new questions and potential paths open up.

Spoiler

Just this week we were introduced to the concept of war, the fact that someone is uploading data to an external source and the guy who created the bird. That's without even coming to the fact that Thandie Newton may well have harmed herself so she could get back into the lab and that Delores is still speaking to Arnold

The confrontation with

Spoiler

Ford and the Man in Black was good but felt so obtuse that it left me baffled, other than Ford is still firmly in control.

but my favourite part was

Spoiler

Delores becoming a killing machine

I quite liked it, but they do need to start wrapping a couple of things up before opening up with another load of plots and questions. Especially with no second season guarantee and only five episodes left. I'd be happy if I could figure out if Delores is having flashbacks, flashforwards or something else.

Spoiler

And it was quite odd how Ford specifically said that he and Delores were not old friends. Seems that Arnold might have been playing the very, very long game.

Looking forward to reading a better analysis of some of the stuff I obviously missed. But the show needs to sort itself and figure out what it wants to be and where it's going.

Spoiler

I think this weeks ep makes the dual timeline theory even more likely, nothing concrete to prove it but more gaps being filled in that make it look more likely to me.

Some classical Nine Inch Nails set during an orgy, love it

That was another great episode, think sky are making even legit subs feel the need to get this via dodgy means by delaying the broadcast. All the major news sites carry Monday full recaps of the ep in The UK

Like this guys write ups but obv don't read until you seen it

why don't people think its happening at the same time? the lab scenes? are they not just taken there in the middle of the night and put back? This is reinforced this week by

Delores meeting Lecter then the next park scene she says she had a dream or something. does this not infer that she was spoken to through the night?

We've been shown there's no problem with park staff wading into a street to clean things up in the daytime.

That EW link above offers a couple of things -

Spoiler

That the hosts could be being interviewed while they still physically in the park, and we are seeing a manifestation of themselves. (I think this is a hell of a stretch)

The other thing is the conversation between Ford and Delores - I didn't catch this dialogue but it seems to imply that Ford is/was Arnold. But then that doesn't explain who Delores is hearing in her head.

Then Ford says something that could be a huge reveal: “Tell me Dolores, do you remember the man I used to be? … I’m sure you remember him — Arnold, the person that created you?”

This is dropped so casually that it’s unclear how literal we are meant to take it. Because Ford quickly resumes talking about Arnold in the third person: He wants to know if Arnold has been speaking to her.

I'm not 100% that's what he says.

Yep, I quoted the 5 season thing myself earlier in the thread, my caution comes from it being the Nolan's, who I dont't think are great at tying up the premises they set up

Person of interest, that was great, and  ended with a stonking season 5, albeit a shorter one, but that just helped! that was a great show by jon nolan!

and this weeks ep, was just awesome! im already looking forward to going through the lot before the final ep! :)

I wonder if the show was written with ten episodes in mind, so that it is self contained and has ends to plot strands.. I always felt like Lost was written with x amount of episodes that were then stretched out and messed around with to fill its run time.

I've come to assume that the Delores having chats with the staff is essentially a cloud-save counterpart to the one in the park itself.

nah, im not sold on this. mostly because they'd then not have a room in the basement full of broken androids, which in Delores' fathers case were replaced by entirely different looking beings rather than getting another clone out of the box.  im still convinced there's hundreds of tunnels leading to the admin center below the park like a big Disney World and they just take them in their sleep

I've been thinking some of the interviews are 'in person' with the robots and others aren't, especially those that take place in an empty glass box with no outside visible.

White hat bloke even asked Delores if she was 'ok last night as seemed a bit distant' in a scene straight after her talking with Ford, and I thought that was meant to hint at the possibility of some sort of remote upload interview thing
