Did properly shite last time round, hopefully this is a little better! Really hard, though, with so much transfer business left to be done. The top-end is really hard to call. Arsenal are a few long-term injuries away from finishing seventh, but a few signings away from the top three. Spurs with Bale and without Bale, ugh, this could be another disaster.

Premier League is difficult to call once you get down below about 8th. There will probably be a bigger points gap between 3rd & 5th than there will between 9th and 18th.

I think West Ham will have a good season, I don't think Everton will slip that much despite losing Moyes (though as I write this they still have Baines and Fellaini) I think Hull and Palace are certs to go down but I fancy Cardiff to stay up. I think Norwich and Southampton will have good seasons. I think Mark Hughes will do better at Stoke than everybody expects, they will flirt with relegation but probably stay up by a good 6-8 points. I agree with everybody who thinks Sunderland will start well and fall away badly after Xmas, Di Canio might not last the season but I think they will stay up. Newcastle could implode, but probably wont. West Brom might get dragged into it without Lukaku's goals. I really do fear for Fulham, they had an excellent run from December to about February last season but they had huge slumps either side of that. Maybe Bent will score the goals to keep them up but maybe he will be stuck in a team who just don't create that many chances.

Well, I tabled all these up over lunchtime, so here's the table as Rllmuk's predicted it on average, along with a couple of expert picks like last season. For the Rllmuk one, I also included the highest and lowest predictions from the range, which I found interesting at least.

Ha, from Swansea in seventh downwards it's a real shot in the dark isn't it? It's like we've all gone "...Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton... um... West... Sunder.... Palace... United.... is that a team? Um, I'll stick them in eighth for now anyway..."

Will be interesting if neither Hull nor Palace come last, literally all of us went for one or the other.

Fulham/West Brom/Villa/Norwich were virtually inseparable, all predicted between 12.6 - 12.9 average placing. I think I might have messed up placing Fulham so high and Norwich so low.

Mate, if I'd known I would have shared my google doc - pretty much the same thing (yours is more readable but less colourful :) )

Heh. Yeah. I figured yours was something similar. Although, you need to change the permissions on yours to let anyone with the link view it. ;)

I had United in the top 4, Cardiff mid-table, Norwich 8th and Liverpool in 5th. Shows just how wrong I was. And I'm happy to be wrong.

Spurs 6th though. Called that one. Might still have it after all. B)

Yeah well played Stoke although, I still dislike Highes for the way he abandoned Fulham and his giant ego. QPR no doubt have him a dose of reality.

1 correct - Spurs in 6th. On the plus side, my slightly optimistic guess of Liverpool in 4th was matched, and exceeded, in style, and my prediction of a strong start for Arsenal, followed by a huge wobble yet winning a cup from the football thread (which I remember being mocked for by the Arsenal lot) was correct, although United's fall from grace conspired to leave them 4th rather than 5th. In fact, here's the text I dug up.

Even with the signings of Flamini, Viviano and Ozil, I still think Arsenal will struggle. Whilst their first team is up there with the best, they still look light for cover in certain areas, and I think that will show when the fixtures ramp up around Christmas, possibly earlier should they suffer any injuries. Potentially a fantastic cup side, I reckon they'll win some silverware, but they'll lack the consistency to finish in the top 4.

If you need to know what'll happen next season in North London (in terms of football, at least), I'm your man.

EDIT: Scratch that, I wasn't mocked at all. Looking through, Timmo (not an Arsenal fan) expressed doubt over my prediction, and Fox suggested that their squad wasn't as weak as I had made out.

Frosty, emjay2kay, AlwaysBeClosing & Commander Jameson sadly didn't make a single dead-on prediction

26= AlwaysBeClosing 90

More points equals better, right?! Thanks for taking the time to do this, really appreciated.

I must admit, I read this thread at the start of the season and found it slightly depressing that most people in it seemed to have my team, Stoke City, pegged as certs for relegation. I dunno, maybe it was that people didnt think the team was good enough to cope without Pulis and his "defend like bastards" rough house style, or Hughes wasnt up to it or both. It made me sad, even though I had hope and thought we could surprise people. And while I'm not usually one for crude displays of gloating, after todays results I would like to say this to the the following people;

As a Hull City fan I feel exactly the same, nearly everyone put us in either 19th or 20th place. Nobody gave us a chance and well, not only did we stay up, but we also took a very good Arsenal side to extra time in the FA Cup final and we'll be playing European football next year. Really proud of my team, what an amazing season it's been.
