Kabak was going to be an option but Phillips has emerged as the better centre back option and he is obviously much cheaper.

 

Van Dijk, Matip, Gomez and Konate next season with Phillips to supplement them. That's a decent back 5 that should cope with what the season brings.

We’ve all sat through 90 minutes of what’s felt like predictable dross many a time this season, I’m sure. Increasingly, I’ve been wondering why I bother. The conclusion of today’s game was a great reminder of why. The season’s still been pretty shit, even if we make the top four, but seeing Alisson score and his reaction to it will live long in my memory.

I don't think that's correct. You fully expect young defenders to make mistakes but not the kind where you completely forget what's going on around you. He does it far too regularly.

 

I have no confidence in his longevity at the club, he isn't quick and he isn't very good at defending.

The 10 Burnley supporters are just booing everyone aren't they?!  Bizarre watching Firmino score and this sort of weird silence, mumbling, booing thing going on.  I think I got used to the fake crowds:lol:

Most kids playing would have a vastly more experienced partner. Phillips is doing great but not the ideal for a kid with only a few games under his belt.

 

As long as he learns over the next few years he may be back in the team in a few seasons.
