Salah was reportedly at a family wedding at the beginning of the international break, the Guardian are saying he was videoed at it.

Nothing to do with international football, I suspect.

He was. The video shows a pretty packed wedding. I know it’s his brother and family comes first, but... dude. Can’t really have any complaints, just hope he’s asymptomatic as reported and no one else around him picks it up.

A wedding scheduled around the international break mind.

RIP Ray.

I was too young to know Clemence as a Liverpool player - my football awakenings only happened in 1985 - but even at Spurs I liked him and thought he was really good. It was only some years later, when I started reading a lot more into the history of the club, that I discovered how key he was to the team when he came in. A real giant in every sense.

RIP Ray.

The nap bet is lumping on Leicester to win at Anfield this weekend, surely?

Hopefully can beat Atalanta again to all but seal the CL group, and minimise the strain on the first team (or what’s left of it) a little.

Edit: David Coote on VAR duty too this weekend. FFS.

I love that he's had a door names after him!  Fucking brilliant!

Secret stair case for possible signings is good too.....might well be needing the use of that in January!

Liverpool and Man City set such a high standard that returning to a norm feels much more noticeable. City dropping points should feel bigger but there are other threats at this stage.

It’s interesting looking at the points per game of a few clubs. This season Man City’s points per game is currently at 1.7, down from the 2.13 they earned overall last season.

Spurs, for example, are currently earning 2.22 ppg (1.55 last season), which would be 84 points over a full season.

The rest of the current top four is as follows:
Chelsea = 2 (1.74) for 76 points

Leicester = 2.25 (1.63) for 86 points

Liverpool = 2.13 (2.6) for 81 points

A few teams have improved (so far) on last season. Their challenge becomes maintaining that, especially over the coming two months of fixtures and the mounting fatigue affecting players’ fitness.

Thought the eventual champion will finish with 85-89 points, probably looking at 80-84 now, especially if the games between sides at the top continue to be more competitive.

I was saying before the season started that City and Liverpool weren't as far ahead as everybody (including here to a degree) were making out. Some of that it the situation with congestion and injuries, but I the gap never stays too big for too long, and I do think that dominance by us and City of the past 3 years or so is gone - and I would've felt the same even without all the injuries we have at the moment.

It's much more interesting as a spectacle though, as nice as it is to win at a canter, having loads of teams still in it close to the end makes it incredibly exciting/tense/horrible!

Statistically Liverpool were miles ahead though. Even just looking at points won, 33 points above third is beyond ridiculous. Even Man City in a state of relative decline were 15 points clear of third.

Of course, both Spurs and Chelsea have improved their squads so that, coupled with Pep shifting Man City’s playing style and Liverpool being disrupted by an unusual amount of injuries plus Covid positives, has closed the gap for now. Football is cyclical so this may well be the start of a shift in power, or just a quirk before Liverpool and Man City reassert themselves.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Leicester win tomorrow, but unlike in the last few years being a half dozen points or so off the pace come Christmas might not be as difficult to overcome. Spurs, Chelsea and Leicester all progressing in Europe is another factor.

At the minute it’s definitely more dramatic thinking there might be a four or five horse race, but feel pretty optimistic about retaining the title. Even with injuries etc this Liverpool side is really fucking good.

I have to disagree that things are closer. Liverpool are heads and shoulders above the competition. Although I’m sure there’d be a slight drop off from the last two years the team could have won the title this year at a canter albeit not as great a gap as 2019/20.

The issue this season is that Klopp must have insulted the Gods in some manner over the summer and we’ve been smote by an injury list that I’ve never seen any Prem club go through in recent years.  Which has equalled things out somewhat.

Maybe if our luck changes. Klopp sacrifices his first born at the temple of Zeus. Then the injuries will clear up and we’ll start to pull away from the pack. Even then we’d have to somehow do it without VVD who is our own Achilles :(
