There have been a few occasions where the team's shape has been completely non-existent. Lovren got scapegoated but that 4-1 defeat to Spurs a few years back was dismal across the board. It did end up being the catalyst for change though, so while the upturn can't be as dramatic hopefully it refocuses a few players.

That being said, this season is likely to produce similar results throughout the league. Listening to a podcast earlier they were explaining how City have already dropped nearly the same number of points from winning positions as they did in (I think) 2017/18, which is crazy given how Pep loves his sides to control matches.

I'm not sure if the break is a good or bad thing, obviously time will tell. Now need no more injuries and no more positive tests, and players that have been off form to take stock. All Champions lose, admittedly not usually 7-2, but it's how they respond that really matters. Man United under Ferguson got tanked several times but always had the last laugh by finishing top come May.

I'm hoping that the days of 95+ points to win a title are over. We were forced into what happened last session, but in all honesty I would love a season where 4-5 teams could feasibly win the league until around Feb / march

Shaq has tested positive for Covid now. Wonder how many more in the squad have it :seanr:

I don't see this being a one off thing, it will start to spread throughout the team and other teams too as the season progresses.

Ha, just seen we have to keep Grujic and Shaq until January but can only register one of them to play in the Premier League as we'd be over the non homegrown players allowance if it was both. On the plus side this late window means January isn't too far off. I think we'll get the £20m for Grujic, loads of teams would be more than happy to have him.

There’s clearly been an outbreak in the team. Hopefully no one else has it but who knows with most of the squad away on international duty.

Hopefully not, but stands to reason that several clubs will have outbreaks. West Ham had a small one, we’ve now had three positives. Managing them is a fresh challenge for the medical teams.

Just underlines how dumb an international break is at the minute. Not even convinced European competition should be going ahead just yet either. At this point not really arsed if we go out early; less risk on the players over the season if we do.

I think there’s been a small outbreak and that more are infected around the club than just those players we know of. I felt watching that game that the players heads weren’t in it and I’m wondering how much this outbreak is affecting the mentality of the team, justifiably as there’s much more important things than football.

We’ve signed a goalkeeper!

Liverpool FC can confirm the permanent signing of goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga from Fluminense.

The 17-year-old joins the Reds having been part of the Brazil squad that won the FIFA U17 World Cup on home soil last November.

Not long now. This is probably the least confident I've been in a derby for a long time, the team are still better than the Everton team but the early season form and introduction of some excellent signings have closed the gap significantly.

For some reason I thought this game was tomorrow and I'm out today and won't see it. Given how bad both our last game and the last derby was, that's probably no bad thing. I'm going to try and avoid keep checking the score.

Like you @Adrock, I'm not feeling confident. If we were on pre-lockdown form I'd not care about their team and I'd expect us to win, but post-lockdown we've been very inconsistent and looked pretty bad in quite a few games and defensively we're not at it. Adrian in goal does nothing to give me confidence, either. Let's hope he can at least avoid a direct error leading to a goal, we need him to have some level of confidence after all if he's the man between the sticks for a few games yet.
