Liverpool were pretty sloppy though, I don't think that's controversial. Gifted a goal and left gaps between the centre backs an articulated lorry could've driven through. Save for two dire finishes you'd have conceded three goals at home against a fairly mediocre side that didn't create anything.

And Mane could have scored a hattrick, not sure of your reasoning there. Yes, if the losing side managed to score from every opening they had then a lot of the times they wouldn’t be the losing side. But here they didn’t, hence why they lost, comfortably.

Not arsed about controversial, arsed about a man that’s turned an entire club around leading by example. Our players see that and know their boss has their back, and isn’t about to let them be thrown under the bus by a parody pundit.

As for the game Arsenal looked a bit more resolute, but they got battered for long periods. The attacking stats reflect that, and Mane, Salah and Jota all missed clear chances. 3-1 flattered Arsenal, just like the same scoreline did last season.

I'm not debating that Liverpool shouldn't have won, that's pretty obvious. They were clearly the better team. I'm just saying that people seem to find the suggestion that Liverpool were anything other than flawless to be something to be defensive about. Everyone knows you're potent going forward, but the defence has looked off of it for a while now.

No... our defence hasn't been pefect. Such are the standards set, that any decent shot against us, let alone goal is treated as some kind of event and proof standards are slipping. We still had the best defensive record last season, despite "the higher line costing Liverpool more and more".

We changed the way we defend to adjust to VAR and play to the strengths of the team to turn more draws into wins. Case in point, we lost once in 2018-19 and came second, in 2019-20 we lost 3 times and won it with more points. This is because we took more risks (afforded by VAR offsides) to try and risk more to win. Of course the loss stats are skewed due to playing the last half dozen games hungover, but the point still stands.

I think most in here recognise it. But personally think life is too short to sweat the small stuff when things are good. Liverpool will likely never be this good again in my lifetime, so plan on enjoying every second of it, not dwelling on negative aspects; can do that when we’re a bit rubbs again, scrapping with Arsenal for 6th.

There is plenty of justifiable criticism that can be levelled at this side at times but far funnier than entertaining that is laughing at our manager making Keane, who is a tired joke of a pundit, squirm.

Yeah, there were mistakes, but Liverpool won handsomely. Klopp and his team will address them away from Sky’s cameras.

Alisson did save us a couple of times and the Mane booking at the start of the game could easily have been a red. It would have been harsh but I’ve seen them given as the cliche goes. I’m also fairly certain the ball hit Jota’s arm before he scored but apart from those minor criticisms it was a good win against the best organised Arsenal side in years.

Great performance and win, really happy to see Jota heavily involved from the moment he came on, he was buzzing. I must admit, I thought it would be chalked off as it looked below the shirt, but we battered them anyway so earned a bit of fortune.

Good match, just wish Salah would be less selfish and not try to go for every shot. He should have left that chance to Jota. Also how does Gini always find himself in the box! He needs to learn to have a shot now and again. Glad Robbo got his goal to even out his deflective error. We play them again on Thursday with I expect our second line-up.

Re: that Jota chance. Salah was already running full pelt to the ball, and if anything this points to an unfamiliarity between players. A simple shout of "Mo's" would have told Jota to leave it to him, likewise if Jota had claimed it then Salah might have been able to check his run. As it was, the lack of communication led to a situation that looks worse than it really was. They'll get to know each other better.

Absolutely. Jota's had around a week of training to familiarise himself with one of the most settled front threes in football. The fact he was involved with several decent chances, and scored, after coming on is a huge positive. Not least because it takes a little bit of pressure off knowing there's a bit more attacking depth to call upon. Origi is a cult hero but he's looked pretty one-dimensional in his cameo appearances recently. To be honest, I'd be happier if the club sold him and kept Brewster, who looks a much more natural finisher.

Hopefully another banger on Thursday. Last season's 5-5 was ridiculously entertaining. Cube is doing double squats and calf raises with a Ford Transit on his back in preparation.

You have to think there's an issue with Brewster, whether it's his attitude, fitness or he just wants to play every week, because Klopp used to speak very highly of him and now there's just lots of talk of him being sold. Like you, @glb I think he'd be a much better option (both long and short-term) than Origi who, despite scoring some important goals 2 seasons ago, did little of note last season and I just don't think has much more to improve.

It must him wanting regular football which to be honest we can't really offer. Best to part ways with a buy-back option.

I think the most likely reason is that, as a younger player, we can ask for more for Brewster. Origi probably has fairly sizeable wages, which will deter buyers. Not to mention, other teams will have seen how little he generally offers. I mean, if we had seen him at Everton for the last 3 years, as an example, would we be begging Klopp to go get him? Forget his important goals, for the most part he tends to be a runner with little else.

Brewster has been linked with a move to several Premier League clubs for around £25m, which admittedly would be great business considering he’s not played a league fixture for us.

Not heard too many negatives regarding his attitude but as said above he could just want to play and that’s fair enough. He’s 20 now so next couple of seasons will be crucial for him and his career trajectory.
