Song 2 is the most uninspired choice, it’s been used in US sports since it was released. At least it’s not Seven Nation Army I suppose.

Should play Blue Moon

City might even prefer to drop points against Chelsea than risk having us beat them for the title.

I bet they really want to do that guard of honour.

Played like champions tonight. Of course helped by Palace missing a few players, but even at full-strength think they’d have been struggling. Class across the pitch. Fucking hell, thirty years.... it might be happening.

Stat!

Quote

An eye-opening stat courtesy of Sky and Opta: this is the first time since records began in 2008 that a team hasn’t had a single touch in the opposition box. An unwanted record for Palace, but they’ll probably be relieved to have kept the score down to four, so it’s swings and roundabouts with the old numbers.

Little fun fact. Since Richard Keys tweeted in July 2017 that Everton would finish above Liverpool that season, both have played 107 games in that time:

Liverpool have 40 more wins, 6 less draws,  34 less defeats, 107 more goals, 69 less goals, 114 more points, 1 CL trophy, 1 super cup, 1 world club cup and are 1 game away from the Premier League title.

Oh to be a blue.

I meant the reaction of the LFC players. If Chelsea take points tonight, we miss that moment when it sinks in for these tremendous bunch of lads.

Ah, right, I get you. From the players' perspective they'd prefer that I'm sure - from my (selfish) perspective I'd still like us to get the record (which could stand for a very, very long time). It would be something that truly reflects in the record books - not just our memories - just how dominant the team have been this season. I think going to City with the title already won might help the performance, too.

In a normal season I'd have made every effort to witness the moment with other Reds (I had a ticket for Palace, would have stayed over until tomorrow just in case or gone up next week to watch the City game somewhere) But in the current situation the moment will be muted either way, so I just want them over the line as soon as possible.

There will be a celebration down the line where we can hopefully all gather and lose our minds, but if the actual confirmation is tonight or next week, or against Villa the following Sunday etc, will have a drink for me and my late dad, a bit of a cry and read every article and watch every video I can about how wonderful this team is.

It's a shame the players won't get the immediate adulation, but can you imagine what the emotion will be like at the next home game with a crowd? Ticket or no ticket intend to be as early as possible; it'll be glorious delirium for an entire weekend

We'll meet at Tesco, knock elbows and then be on our merry way!

I've just fallen down a bit of a YouTube rabbit hole and have spent the last hour watching Roy Keane and Gary Neville at some show talking about all kinds of stuff (including Keane's exit, which was really interesting) but they have talked about that attitude of winning something but, come next season, essentially saying 'So what?' and trying to move up a level and do it all again. I really hope this team can push on next season and not only retain the league (which, let's be honest, is a true mark of a great team) but compete in other competitions (a good FA Cup run would make a nice change, for example!)

Also saw a snippet of a Michael Owen chat where he talks about the latter part of his career and where it fell down with Newcastle, which was also interesting.
