My brother used to be a sports writer at The Scotsman and still can't resist thinking up lines occasionally. One he sent today - "Apparently Dejan Lovren is an anti-vaxxer. Something something . . . casual refusal to take even the most basic defensive precautions."

Something something... and Mingolet doesn’t need vaccinations because he can’t catch anything.

Maaaaaaaaate. Sod that Martin ‘The Liverpool Team Bus Ran Over My Cat’ Tyler disinterested commentary!

Also, Barca fan bar reaction because fuck Barcelona and their ‘we score one Liverpool need five and we’re going to score one’ optimism:

Sorry to dismiss Tyler like that, but if you’re going to carnival you need hype!

How has it been a year?! Drink it in, what a night. It’s still ludicrous. It’s still nonsense... and the anniversary of #6 is still to come

Nah fuck Tyler, his bias is ridiculous. The commenatry on that clip Brad posted was like it way taken straight from Fifa. There's zero emotion in his voice at all.

Compare that to BTs commentary, its night and day.

I'm guessing Tyler's phoning in was done after the event (bit like Sky used to do their red button Champions League commentaries from portacabins in Osterley, giving them a weirdly disconnected feel)

He generally barely raises a pulse for Liverpool games though. Only recent time I can recall him forgetting himself was Salah's exocet against Chelsea last season. But that was such an extraordinary strike think even the ghost of Dixie Dean started dabbing when he saw it.

The best bit is the fume in the comments. Up

the unbearable Reds

Henderson is a fantastic captain, so pleased the lad turned his Liverpool career around. That vid of him and his dad on the pitch in Madrid would melt a snowman’s heart.

Finished reading Red or Dead this week. Thought it was brilliant and totally helped me understand the history of the club, which, while I knew, I didn't really know the details. Writing style isn't for everyone but I like how David Peace writes.

Also, along with the Nature's Fire documentary, helped bring context to the 'matter of life or death' quote. It was about the people, the Liverpool population, and how much it means to them. Never knew that, just thought it was a 'football, bloody hell' reaction type thing.

I think you're reaching a bit, to be honest. I know that there are still some of us that feel aggrieved by the way he left (which wasn't much different to how others have left clubs to join us - see any number of Southampton players), but for me at least, Sterling has been exemplary in public recently, and this tallies with a lot of his views. You need to remember that a scrapped season fucks City over too, given they're amongst the favourites to win the Champions League, and as it stands now they won't be competing in it again for a couple of years.

Don’t really see any issue with what Sterling is saying. Players are paid very well, but think it’s fair for him to admit they won’t be at their peak in a few weeks of training.

Football has been under scrutiny for a lot of this pandemic, largely unfairly. No doubt because it’s an outlet for so many (media and the public) but Sterling, Deeney etc are simply echoing concerns that are entirely valid.
