City and Leicester are on course for under 80 points. Title is done. Absolutely no one getting anywhere near you.

30 long years of let nearlys and complete failures. Until it is mathematically done, I refuse to believe.

I was of a similar mindset to you at the beginning of the season @bradigor but after this round of fixtures I'm starting to thaw a bit. I know it's still early but surely Leicester aren't going to better Liverpool's second half of the season by 4 wins and a draw (with Liverpool having a game in hand), City need an even better turn around.

Klopp has created a team that is pretty special. I'm happy to say that right now because they're European Champions and they are great fun to watch.

I want to believe @Adrock and I almost allowed it tonight. But, we still have tp go to

Man City

Arsenal

Everton (with Ancelotti)

Wolves

Spurs

That is a potential drop of 15 points and City can clearly go on a 19 game winning run in the second half of the season. Thus eliminating the 14 point lead.

Seriously though, it feels so close now. This is the best Liverpool team I have ever witnessed.

I think if every one of your pre-match predictions came true we’d be somewhere just above Norwich in the table.

I said at the beginning of the season that we’d win it and have a good chance I’d going unbeaten. Have you not seen this team? It’s not just the best in the league this year it’s one if not the best team to grace the premiership. When City won the title last year it felt as if they gave all they had left and reached their peak but that there was still an upward trajectory for this Liverpool team. We are going to dominate the league for the next couple of years until City transition or VVDs legs fall off.

Get it wrapped up by March and focus on the Champions League ;)

Nah, remaining cautiously optimistic. I know what everyone else and their mother is saying but can’t bring myself to believe anything based on previous times falling short. Obviously, from here it would take something so calamitous that the club would have to be shut down through embarrassment, but.... football does have a canny knack of producing both wonderful and horror stories.

Just take it one game at a time & see where we are in May.

This. Always this.

I'm happy to enjoy the thought that we'll win it. In fact, I want us to do all of the following:

Remain unbeaten, thus topping "The Invincibles" points tally

Outscore Citeh's best season

Win the FA Cup and Champions League, thus beating ManUre's treble

This is the best team I've ever seen, and I want there to be no sticks for bitter rival fans to beat them with. It's a big ask, I know, but this team can definitely do it, and be the greatest ever!

I will continue with my pre-match predictions and continue to soak up that amazingness that is this team.

It is so much fun.

That’s similar to my balance. Cautiously optimistic of what might transpire overall this season but revelling in the individual matches like there’s no tomorrow because this is the best side (and squad) in my lifetime. I was too young to fully appreciate the ‘88 era team, probably the last great Liverpool side. Same with the early 80s sides that dominated at home and abroad. There have been flashes of brilliance since ‘88 but think this season’s vintage would beat all of them just because the quality throughout the side is so perfectly balanced.

Some individuals from the last 30 years would get a look in, but even a team from five years ago, with allowance for differences in training methods, would struggle against the press, pace and mentality of the current team. They are unlike anything I can remember in 30-odd years. They are an absolute joy and should be cherished.

Imagine this team with peak Gerrard, Alonso, Torres, Suarez and Hyypia as options!

Did a small sex wee.

Note I said 'as options' because I am not sure many would actually start.

As an aside... Will Trent be better remembered for his passing ability than Xabi or Jan*? Because he is is going to be in that bracket.

*It genuinely annoys me that many forget about Jan Molby when they talk about our best midfielders by the way. His passing range was outrageous.

It's amazing how quickly City have fallen apart. They started this season like they ended the last and while Liverpool were narrowly winning each game they were beating sides comfortably including the demolition job they did on Watford. For all everyone says that Liverpool aren't the same without VvD I didn't think City would be so bad at the back without Laporte and Kompany especially with how much City have spent on defenders while Liverpool were without Alisson for so long Adrian would now get a league winners medal because he's made enough appearances.

I'm still not completely confident. Liverpool have been the only side to fail to win the league when every metric (top at Christmas etc) has said they should and the last side this far clear at Christmas that failed to win the league was Newcastle which was then unfairly blamed on Asprilla. Maybe Minamino is the new Asprilla?

He's not, obviously

Molby was an outrageously good player. Think he gets overlooked due to his tubbiness in all honesty. But what a passer. He could cross the English Channel. But I don’t think even he had the diversity of Trent. Those raking cross field balls are similar to the way Beckham hit balls, but Beckham had more bend. Trent can fizz a ball like no other, even Alonso who was our metronome.

Hyppia paired with Van Dijk would be illegal in 19 counties. Wouldn’t concede a headed goal ever.

Only side not to win the league after being top at Christmas in the past decade.

There have been plenty in the Premier League era not to finish top in May after being festive number one:

Norwich 92/93
N’castle 95/96
M Utd 97/88
Villa 98/99
Leeds 99/00
N’castle 01/02
Arsenal 02/03
M Utd 03/04
Arsenal 07/08

Just putting the record straight because it annoys the tits off me when Dick Keys bleats about it every week on BeIn. Not that you’re in anyway equivalent to Keys, obviously ;)

would they fight over the #4 though?

I’m so in love with this side.  Aside from having the skillz (obviously), they just feel like such a genuine team.  One of the things I’ve always loved about Liverpool is the heart of the players, the manager, the people.  Even years and years later you can see how much being part of the squad meant to them.  #WeAreLiverpool

Robbo though, I adore him. Watching his and Milly’s silly videos on YouTube is just pure joy

Robbo seems like the biggest fan of this team and he’s in it

I don't care believe until it's mathematically impossible for anyone to catch us.

Which will be mid January, with the way things are going.

Everyone other than Liverpool fans are saying it's done. We don't want to believe it until it's done.
