We stopped pressing them, Suarez just sat off and allowed the cross for the first goal. The second came as the players around Adam didn't react quick enough to his slip and allowed him time and space.

That needs to improve in the second half.

Sigh. I was just about to write that we've been poor but at least we're winning. I think - Sterling apart - we've been terrible. Second to most 50-50s, sloppy in the passing and not looked too threatening. Stoke have been all over us when we've had the ball and have done most of the pressing. Luckily Adam's delivery from set-pieces is as good as when he was with us otherwise it could be even worse, as we've looked very shaky at the back.

Pretty painful 45 minutes to watch, to be honest, even at 2-0.

Totally expected, though.

There's no balance in midfield. As ever, we lack energy in there when both of Gerrard and Licas play. Poor old Lucas is really struggling with his box-to-box role.

Hopefully Luis Alberto will come on for Lucas at some point in the second half.

Well yeah, our record both there (dreadful) and our away form since October (rubbish, 5 points from 21) would point to a draw at best. But then, at 2-0 up, you would have at least hoped to hold on to a lead to half-time.

We appear to be panicking a little here.

This is the sort of match that decides if we can get into the UCL spots or will have to languish in the Europa League. Which is important because - Suarez.

Now *that* was a goal worthy of winning the game, lovely move.

As an aside, Gerrard has been everywhere today.

@hmm - that's exactly right. Up until the beginning of last season his finishing was incredibly erratic (as the stats proved). The difference this season is remarkable, beyond anything I ever would have expected from him. It's been excellent.
