I think against 'lesser' teams we just expect things to happen whereas in tougher matches we're more aware that we need to work for them.

Nah, I don't think that's true. The 'better' teams will generally be a bit more free-flowing and give opposition a bit more space, it's generally always been that way.

Maybe more a lack of determination. Against big sides there seems to be a 'we'll show you' kind of thing. Against others it's as if they seem surprised when it doesn't just happen.

I suppose the big thing is that, without Coutinho, we tend to lack a really creative player - Ibe's not got any end product yet, Lallana didn't start and Firminho still hasn't really shown a great deal. Playing both Allen and Lucas for Newcastle away was perhaps overly cautious; perhaps a more ambitious starting 11 would have changed things, who knows.

It's a shame that we couldn't take advantage of those around us drawing, though. That's what makes things a bit more annoying.

Typical Liverpool, predictable result this. Fucking shite. And I hope that linesman gets fired for not doing his job right.

Really that predictable? What a really negative, awful post.

Predictable in reference to my earlier post:

Newcastle are crap.

Loads of rival teams dropped points yesterday

We've been great away lately

We'll probably lose today. I can never be confident when it comes to Liverpool.

But I guess your post was just a way for you to try and justify negging my post which was more likely done in retaliation of my neg. Bit petty but whatever.

Just looking ahead at our fixtures, and December isn't the worst month - Watford, Leicester, Sunderland and West Brom (not in that order). Then we start 2016 with West Ham but then Arsenal and Man U on a Wednesday-Sunday combo, so we want to be within touching-distance of 4th come January 1st.

Legitimate goal ruled offside. Could have gone on to win if that had been allowed. Sure, the performance was crap, but if you score a brilliant onside goal, you expect it to count. Linesman, not doing their job again, and it cost us.

As Pockets said, we got away with one against Bournemouth, so c'est la vie. The fact is, Newcastle were just a bit more clinical - not much, but enough. The second goal was a really good counter-attack though.

Disappointing result but will be a few more of those this season. Would take a few lows if it means a few high like those against City and Saints. Some days things just don't click, but they do for the opposition. No bother, only real frustration was that the 'equaliser' didn't stand, but otherwise no real complaints.

Just like a game from last season that, team half asleep, terrible passing, Benteke & Firmino just jogging around, Henry said before the game we won't lose being complacent, looked like it to me, Newcastle were well up for it

forget the linesman, as already said - Bournemouth at home

Linesman's fuck up aside, we were bloody terrible. Why would he start with a midfield of Milner, Allen and Lucas?

Yup, I said above I think it was overly cautious. It could well have been that had we got the first goal (and early) their heads may have gone down and the crowd turn against them and so I would have liked to see a bit more adventure at the start to try and achieve that. I also think he should have given Benteke and Sturridge the last 20-25 minutes, too, rather than replacing one with the other. Probably would have replaced Firminho at half-time, too.

If we could get 10 out of 12 points in the remaining games this month, that'd be excellent. Even 8 from 12 would keep us up there, I think.

Shit the bed, one bad result and performance and it's all doom and gloom again!

Newcastle did what they had to, parking the bus and hitting us on the break. They got luck from the first goal then parked the bus again

We were never good enough today, a tired and lethargic performance, with our front line off the boil.

Sturridge is so unfit as well, it'll take time before he is back to his best.

Newcastle parked the bus about as much as we did (just to be clear - they didn't). And it wasn't a tired and lethargic performance any more than Newcastle's was (illustrated by Sky as they kept checking to see how far both teams ran and it was neck-and-neck for most of it). We just played rubbish, no more, no less.

And I wouldn't say it's doom and gloom, just commenting on a bad performance.

Don't agree.

Newcastle at times sat so deep, with numbers behind the ball, waiting for a chance to counter attack. They broke fast and played like the away side.

Yes it was tired and lethargic, the very fact the teams were neck and neck on running points to that as we have been out running everyone else we've played. Milner, Allen and Lucas as a midfield 3 were uninventive and in my eyes a mistake, but they all looked tired. Teke and Firmino upfront looked very lethargic.

We did play rubbish, Lallana should have started, but if it wasn't for a lucky deflection and a disallowed goal, that game was a draw all day long.

Take a look at the posts above, there was a fair bit of doom and gloom.

Going forward we were playing too many hopeful passes That were just not getting to any of our players, Lucas, Allen & Milner had a really poor game.

Unlucky that Moreno's goal was ruled offside. We maybe should have started with Lallana, Can & possibly Origi.
