I like the fact he's got a bit of an edge about him. From the BBC article:

"I know what I want. First I need to talk to the players to find a common way. We will find that and who wants to do what I propose.

"Whoever wants to do what I want can be a good friend of mine. And it is not so bad a thing to be a friend of mine."

Zing!

So Klopp's stated that he wants one trophy in his 3 years.

ONE trophy.

Therefore if he guides you to a single league cup victory within 4 years that would be a success? I don't think so.

He said this:

"If I am sitting here in four years, we will win one title [piece of silverware] in this time."

Have I totally misunderstood?

yes you have. he said

It’s not important what people said when you come in, but what they say when you leave. If we want this could be a special day. We can start in a very difficult league and in a special Liverpool way we can be successful. If we sit here in four years I think we win a title, I’m pretty sure. If not, maybe Switzerland!

So glad to have Klopp managing in England, has to be one of the most exciting appointments in ages. A bit jealous, to be honest. He could've gone anywhere but has chosen Liverpool, seemingly for similar reasons as he chose Dortmund, even though there were less difficult / more lucrative jobs available. It's a club in a working class city, where he can become a cultlike figure if he restores them to their former status, and it seems like that challenge is what attracted him. Rodgers was appointed for similar reasons, to implement a long term vision that would have a transformative effect of the club's fortunes, but Klopp has actually been and done it before. Huge coup for the club.

Such a shame he is only going to have such a short time with the players before the Spurs game, what with the international break, traveling, early kick off etc etc.

He gets time to bed in and do administrative busywork while the players are away, and then most of the week to prepare for the game. Seems fairly well planned.

“I am not the guy who is going to go out and shout: ‘We are going to conquer the world!’ or something like this. But we will conquer the ball, each fucking time. We will chase the ball. We will run more, fight more,” said the former Borussia Dortmund coach, who will earn up to £7m a year at Anfield.

He added: “The only thing I need is players that want to help the team. They have to listen to what I say.

“That is very important because I believe it is better to have 11 players do the same thing wrong than everybody doing what they want. We have to do it one way and that is my way. Now we cannot talk about football philosophy and ball possession, playing like Barcelona, playing like whoever. No, this team needs to create their own style.

“If you have the ball you have to be creative but you have to be prepared that if you lose the ball the counter-pressing is very important.

“It is very important in football. It is not a proposal, it is law.

“You have to do it and you will. That is what we all have to learn, maybe. I’m only interested in 100% of each player. Now we have to work on that.”

Edit: just realised his first home game is actually a European night :omg:

Tickets still available to if you want to go.

first thing he should do is end that fucking nivea deal, awful advert.

End them? He'll be in them! :eyebrows:

..........................

Interesting on Benteke from Tony Barrett:

Tony Barrett: #Klopp didn't pursue #Benteke - one possible reason being the forward appearing unsuited to pressing and harassing. #LFC

Speculation of course, but lets hope we don't have an Andy Carrol Mk2 situation.
