We just have no identity as a team. There doesn't seem to be a cohesive plan. Back to 3 in defence again tonight as well. One thing is clear though, PLAY SAKHO.

Rossiter I don't know yet...next Gerrard or next Spearing.

Coutinho is a cut above the rest.

Thought Lallana was absolutely awful, despite the nice goal. He continues to disappoint.

Ibe was poor too, lost the ball way to often. Failed to track back when required.

Origi seems like a bit of a Belgian Welbeck to me. Who in turn is an English Ngog. Not sure he's gonna do it. Ings a better option for us right now.

Good to see some debuts tonight, whether they make it...who knows. Chirivella did fine for his first game.

Overall, I don't like were it's all going. 2 big games coming up now in the league. Everyone will expect 6 points from them.

Sakho signed a new contract which is great for us but for him a bit strange to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he's plonked back on the bench on Sunday, hes arguably 1st choice, never mind 2nd, 3rd or even at one stage 4th choice and not involved at all, and I imagine he wants to play for France next year

I think he genuinely likes being at Liverpool when you see all the charity stuff he does

Ooh, I like that team. I'll do nothing but worry about Sturridge though, please don't get hurt.

If that's Can in a back three I'm just going to give up on this season and Brendan with it. If it's a 442 diamond I'll still be slightly annoyed that he's picked such a conservative midfield, but I'll rejoice that he's finally fucking trying it out. I mean, finally! It's surely the most obvious formation now, given the complete lack of both pace and quality on the wings.

Wait a minute... Nope. It's going to be Can in a back three. Fuck's sake.

I wouldn't mind if we went to 3 at the back permanently. But it's something that needs a lot of work because when we come up against teams that know how to break the midfield line, we just have no answer for it. I think that problem could be solved now that we've got two good wing-backs and we're not just playing wingers and forwards there. Still, Can shouldn't ever be in defence. The only way I'd find it acceptable is if he was being used as a libero in the middle of the three, and I think there's an argument to be made that this would be much more useful than just playing an old fashioned style sweeper with limited distribution there.

There's also the small problem of us rigidly using a medium block from a 4321 shape. I highly doubt he's going to change that, and United away should have done for his big idea of trying to use a completely different shape for attacking and defensive phases.

I don't mind Can in defence because he's better than Skrtel. I think our midfield is a problem without him in it though.

But Skrtel will still be playing... If it was Can in the middle of the three and even Lovren playing at RCB I'd be happier. As usual, the combinations he's selected lack balance.

Oh well. I'm excited to see Stutridge and Benteke starting a game together. And also Phil's back!

I can see Can getting more and more annoyed at being turned into a utility player who is never used in his best position (like what happened to Milner) and taking the first opportunity that comes along to leave the club. He's a defensive midfielder who can play in the defence is he needs to but definitely not at right back where he ad a torrid time playing for Germany during the international break.

Back to having too much space between the midfield and defence. Milner's bang average - it's pretty disappointing that he's a guaranteed starter in CM for us. We're threatening in flashes but just can't get a proper hold on the game. If only he could sort the midfield and defensive line out.

Moreno and Sakho have both been class. Hopefully he stops mucking about and leaves them in the team now.
