Absolutely shocking from Skrtel. Not to take anything away from Martials goal, he took it well but as a defender you have to do better than that.

6 goals in 2 games. How many goals have we conceded since Rodgers took over? Surely more than any other manager we've had in their first 4 years.

World class Benteke goal aside, totally shambolic.

What does Rodgers do in training? Because we're not a team. We have no identity. The defence has been a joke for 3 years now.

Rodgers should have went at the end of last season. Nobody likes him, he just isn't good enough.

Always nice to see United fans show their true colours though. They manage to contain themselves until they score, and then sing their song reveling in the death of 96 football fans. We're often told it's a minority...very loud for a 'minority' I say. Scumbags.

Now we have to listen to everybody getting a bit over-excited by Martial's goal, which was good, but nowhere near as special as Tyler was making out.

Anyway, that was awful. Truly awful. In every game this season I've repeated myself in that we have created little and so thoroughly deserved to lose. In terms of team selection, I still think playing 3 holding midfielders at home to West Ham last week was worse, but today still made no sense. Firmino has been completely anonymous so far. He doesn't link play, doesn't really hold up the ball, hasn't had an eye for a pass. I realise this may all change, but for the moment, he's lucky we don't actually have any proper (good) wide-men to take his place.

Ings was always going to struggle out wide, especially with the glacial-pace our midfield moved up in support. Can at least was trying to get forward (and on a few occasions was furthest-forward) but even he's looked average at best this season. Milner has had a couple of duff games and I still think Lucas no longer works in the current system (which also doesn't work, but that's another issue). Skrtel and Lovren were both off today and dreadful with the ball, and Gomez (another played out of position) showed a lack of experience. Clyne was ok, getting forward when he could, but he had nothing to work with.

Like said above, I don't mind losing if the team at least put up a fight, but we've just looked so off the pace for ages now, going back to last season. It's disheartening.

I don't mind the loss because it's not really a game we can expect to get much from. But that performance zzz...

Horrendous.

Yes, it's not so much that we lost away to United because that happens most seasons, it the way we lost. Zero passion, zero urgency, zero ideas.

Rodgers should be sacked tomorrow, just not good enough, maybe should of gone after the 6-1 but had a bit of good grace for 13/14 season, needed to start this season well but we've done well for 45 minutes at Arsenal and scored 2 great individual goals all season

Man Utd are shite bless em but they didn't have to play well to easily beat us

My frustration this season is that we have so much attacking talent which Rodgers doesn't exploit. Our defense is always rocky we should be going into games with two up front. Going anywhere to play cagey is suicidal with our defense and then we are a goal down and it becomes shit we have to try and score now.

Can change the manager but we won't win anything with the way the club is run.

The worst thing is that there have been times where, tactically, he's got things really spot-on, so we don't need to sack him. He just needs to start picking players and find a system for them, and stop with playing everybody out of position.

Load of shit - excluding Benteke's goal.

I don't know what needs doing, starting to come around to the idea of getting rid of Rodgers. But who would we realistically be able to get in his place?

He just needs some sense kicked into him. Get Sakho into the team and stop playing players in the wrong positions for a start. Last season after our first loss to United we put together that nice unbeaten run, let's have a repeat of that please.

I only watched the 1st 35 minutes and it sounds like the team performed similarly or worse for the reminder and Utd improved.About as bad a 35 minutes as I can remember - no man is an island unless he plays for Liverpool- - the players were too far apart, were risking long passes that could be intercepted and neither of the centre backs have enough about them individually to be able to defend properly without support. The amount of times that the ball was given away in the Liverpool defensive 3rd and Utd players had only 1 man to beat was 3 by my count-, don't know if people saw more instances than I did.If it wasn't for their own ineptitude they should have been a couple of goals up at half time.

The system isn't working, Pulis has shown that you can get players who can't defend for toffee organised and solid, but even after all the talk at the start of the season re solidity Liverpool are back where they ended last season. Rogers seems to want to persist with a high pressing expansive game but if you watched Liverpool players trying to close down utd ones they were chasing shadows as Utd just set up little triangles to get themselves out of trouble and move the ball ,the expansive nature just gave the ball back because people couldn't pick the passes.

As folks have mentioned , the manager has shown in the past that he can change his tactics and adapt but he seems to have a blind spot in relation to the philosophy - it's not working and not working with players he wanted so obviously thought they could adapt to it.To paraphrase; the definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.
