Just listened to the press conference after yesterday's game. Rodgers was asked what formation he's likely to play this season, as he'd used a couple of different ones during pre-season so far. He replied that he's used the same formation in all 3 games - 4-3-3.

Which is interesting, as it has looked slightly different to me - 2nd match was definitely 4-2-3-1, with Origi up front on his own. Maybe he just sees the differences as tweaks to 4-3-3.

Sounded like Origi didn't exactly set the pitch alight. Think we all knew he was still a bit raw but I wonder if he's going to end up on loan again when Benteke is confirmed. Depends how many of the others we offload I suppose.

Benteke medical done and he's doing his interview now.

Think we want to give him Lambert's shirt number too.

Have worries about him...fee, injuries, style of play but very much excited about him now. Love a striker coming in, dreaming of all the goals they will hopefully score.

As I've said in here when this topic came up in the past, I don't see us sticking with one formation. I think he'll move between 4-3-3 (variations of 4-1-2-3 and 4-2-1-3) and 4-4-2 diamond, as we have done for most of his time here.

I think we'll do that too, it was just surprising how adamant he was that we'd only played one formation in pre-season (when we haven't really). Maybe the accusations of tactical tinkering have got to him:

My only concern with Benteke is his recent injuries but if he's left that behind him then this is a great signing. Been a big fan of his for ages now and always wished to see the club sign him, on his best form he is near on unplayable. He is a guaranteed 1 in 2 goal scorer and those are like gold dust these days. I can't wait to see him in a Liverpool shirt.

This is the kind of summer we should have had last year, at least we've learned from our mistakes.

Benteke, Firmino, Sturridge, Coutinho, Ings, Orgi, Ibe... That is some attacking talent right there.
