I've watched firmino in a couple of Brazilian games and he is a proper straight at the goal attacking player which is a really positive signing. His goal scoring record isn't amazing but hopefully he'll get a chance to improve it as we'll play pretty attacking next season.

He sounds like he's got a bit of Suarez-like fire and tenacity about him. But he would probably work better with a partner, rather than as a lone striker (which applies to all the strikers we've been linked with).

Bacca looks brilliant. A right firecracker. Pity he's 28, nearing 29. But exactly the type of player that we need and the fans would truly love. A front 3 of Coutinho, Firmino and Bacca would be exciting.

Got to watch Brazil's next Copa America game now. ^_^

Where would Firmino be played? I was thinking further forward as surely he won't take Coutinho's place unless the plan is to move him out wide. Otherwise I can see Firmino working just behind the main striker linking midfield with attack which would prevent our lone striker being isolated.

Oh yes we've just got good at transfers!

Might wanna wait and see how your new players work out before you start saying things like that.

No he literally means us going out and signing a player in less than a week without faffing about.

Maybe a Christmas tree, with Coutinho and Firminho playing off a main striker, which would give Balotelli the support he needs to be effective. Milner and Henderson are both capable of providing support out wide when needed so it could work.

Is my guess of what he's aiming for at this stage. If we really are signing another striker then I guess he must be going to a diamond, but I'd be surprised.

The Echo had an article before reaffirming that we're after another striker. So I'd imagine he'd play that system with the new striker at the start of the season, and maybe the diamond with Ings/Origi in the 'easier' games. Then switch permanently to it when Sturridge is fit.
