Excellent win. Did well to largely nullify City's strong attack and whilst we didn't create a huge number of clear chances, Lallana and Coutinho in particular were excellent and even Joe Allen had a good game.

As Sturridge is coming back to full fitness, I wonder how Rodgers will readjust the shape? The front 3 without him have largely been quite successful, and it's really brought the best back out of Phil.

Lovren was excellent today, I thought. A couple of shakey moments but all in all very good. The entire team were excellent, there was nervousness during periods but that is the kind of thing that requires experience somewhere in the team and that is missed with the age of the squad.

Another great win coming after the one last week, I would of took 2 points, need to make sure ee beat Burnley or its just a waste, Phil Coutinho again! The premier leagues most underrated player?

Not impressed with City, you'd think they were in Istanbul on the thursday

I wasn't able to watch the game but from what I heard it certainly sounded like we were worth the win and outplayed City once again. After Thursday night, my brother asked me what I thought about today's game and I said I wouldn't be surprised if we played like a completely different team and won! I think reverting to one main man up front probably helped us out as well so we weren't overrun in midfield.

Fingers crossed Everton do us a favour now!

Other than a dodgy start and then perhaps the another 10-minute spell City had in the first half, we were easily the better team. The pressing was much better in the second half and we did a bit more with the ball (albeit without creating much inside the area). It wasn't just about the goals, it was the energy and will to be first to each loose ball. The only player who didn't have a great game was Markovic, really, he just never got going.

Lovren, I didn't see him much at southampton but there must be a decent player in there somewhere...he was shocking before Christmas but can't believe he's an international and going for 20m and it wasn't as though Southampton were desperate to get rid of he's genuinely shit, if he steps up we can put Can in midfield

Well that was just a bit exciting wasn't it. I thought the team were excellent today, Coutinho especially and to seal off a performance with that goal was the icing on the cake.

I hope we can keep this momentum going and humiliate United.

Lets hope the current form is just the beginning because the next five league games reads like this:

West Ham (h)

Everton (a)

Tottenham (h)

Southampton (a)

Man City (h)

Could end up either in mid table or right in the mix for the top 4 depending on results. I'd be much more confident if we get a new striker in befroe the window closes.

Getting 13 points off that run is excellent form. Who'd have predicted that beforehand? Rodgers and the team have to be commended.

Never in doubt about today's game *Shifty eyes*

See that's the thing, I don't know how anyone else feels but I don't get that same worrying feeling when we face City at home that I do when Arsenal and Chelsea come to us. Those 2 are the only clubs I never feel confident against. As good as City can be, we've more than held our own against them at home since their money came in.

Did you see another piece of Lallana magic when Lovren played a high pass to him with his back to goal around the centre circle? Took it beautifully between his legs, span and ran towards their goal. Fantastic piece of skill.

I missed the game live and only caught the MOTD highlights. Was astonished how much energy we seemed to have compared with Thursday. Hendo seemed to be at the heart of a lot of the pressing. Great to see him back and get that cracking goal.

The very specific plan to reduce wages has clearly worked, it makes the performances from the team even more impressive considering wage restructuring has been a big part of what Rodgers has had to work with.

Burnley tomorrow night could be the banana skin because so far this season they have put maximum effort into every single performance and after two very tiring performances in the last week this third game could be one too far.
