Finally a performance we can be very happy with, hopefully we can continue this and string some wins together. Spurs have Chelsea on the 1st and we have Leicester so hopefully we can climb another position and see us only a few of points from 4th

Excellent performance. Swansea didn't really offer all that much but that was in large part because going forwards we looked a different team from a month ago. Wonder how Gerrard felt watching.

Well hopefully he goes into Brendan's office and says that he sees his new role on the bench for the most part, for the good of the team, meaning he can prolong his careers by doing things like coming off the bench when needed to grab a late goal.

Coutinho and Lallana were better players for Liverpool tonight and there has to be mention again for Lucas, an excellent display from a player who was on his way out. Thats not to say Can wasn't very good, but he wasn't really tested with the way Swansea played. Playing from the back meant he had plenty of time on the ball.

Can was probably my man of the match, so calm and collected throughout. Think everyone bar the subs had a really good game. Well probably not Mignolet, some poor deliveries as usual.

Swansea didn't really test him that much but his distribution is still awful, in fact in the second half it looks like he and Fabianski were having a competition to see who could kick it to the opposition / into touch the most.

Incredibly harsh on Leicester so far. At most one penalty should have been given and up the other end they should have scored at least one.

To be fair to the ref, I thought the first penalty was a handball at full speed too.

Blimey, about a foot away from goal of the season for Henderson there.

Two well taken Leicester goals, the usual shambolic defending from us. We played worse than midweek, but looked OK-ish offensively until Lallana went off, I thought. Hope he's not out for long. A point was a fair result. Gerrard was poor I thought, but he wasn't alone. Disappointing considering the other results today though, of course. Plus that we were 2-0 up...

Whilst I don't we deserved either penalty, when you're 2-0 at home you should really be able to see it out, but once again we threw it away. Sakho didn't track Nugent for the first, nobody stuck with Schlupp for the second. Leicester played very well though and can feel hard done by because of the penalties.

We were pretty rubbish all afternoon all over the pitch. Can looked a bit more exposed as part of a back 3 against a team looking more threatening did on Monday, so I don't see that experiment perhaps lasting that long, and we lacked much in the final third. The intensity that was present on Monday wasn't there and whilst you can put that down, in part, to the number of games played recently (which is a fair argument) it just shows we lack any alternative way to break teams down. When Sterling moved out wide he often had no targets in the middle to aim for, so had to wait for runners from deep which slowed things down. Makes it all a bit pointless.

I can't believe Rodgers thinks we're ok as a squad, his press conference yesterday was all about coaching what he's got and he didn't see much, if any, transfer activity. We need a striker because Borini is just poor, Lambert struggles to get involved (I appreciate he only had 10 minutes, but when he's started he's not looked great) and who knows what's going on with Balotelli. None of those options are any good, really.

Genuinely stunned and saddened by the Gerrard announcement. Always thought he'd be a one-club man and join the coaching staff, given that he's talked he'd love the chance to manage the club one day.

I suppose announcing now might allow Rodgers the funds to get somebody in now to give them a chance to bed-in.

I mean, taking sentimentality out of it and yes, his influence on the team has dropped a lot this season so from that point of view it's probably best for him and the club, but still... :(

Hopefully Rodgers will drop Gerrard more often now, no need to keep him happy at the expense of the team. Pushing Henderson out of position to play Gerrard really hurt us today.

I wonder if he's looking for a last big pay check in the USA or a move to a Chelsea/City. I can see him doing well at either of the latter, they'll play him in the right position and sparingly. I think he has too much influence at the club to ever be able to willingly take a step back and become a bit part player without hurting his ego. This decision is probably best for both player and club.

The other thing that makes me sad about all this is that he is the last current player we have that's come through the ranks and become an important player. Flanagan may become one in time, though he's never going to provide the kind of entertainment that Gerrard has.

I can't see him going to any other English club though, partly because I don't think he'd want to ever come back to Anfield as a visitor, and partly because I'm guessing he wants to play more than he is.

I actually wonder if things might snowball now that it's out in the open and he ends up leaving during this window? Whilst I'd be surprised, with the way this season is going, you never know.

It's the right time...if maybe even a season too late. One of the best to ever wear the shirt but age catches up with everyone, deserves a fat pay cheque in the states.

Rubbish. 13 league goals last season was his second best ever return. Sure he isn't as spectacular as he used to be - he had a great season last year. Sure a slip...yet he's always always done that kind of giving the ball away in his own half sort of thing. It's just now, as age catches up with him and the halo slips, its easier for people to point it out. Not brave enough to do so before, awed into silence by those around him.

Fair play to him. He's not been bad.
