Glad I was working so didn't have to watch this one, from the live text commentary I was following it seemed that Balotelli was better. Shame the rest of the team weren't.

Yep, Balotelli and Gerrard were the only 2 who weren't rubbish today.

What was especially disappointing about the game was that Newcastle didn't even have to play well themselves to keep us at bay . We didn't cause them any real problems in any area of the pitch, the only real save Krul had to make was from an offside header and their defence barely broke a sweat.You could pretty much say the same about Hull last week, too.

Not that I think he would have changed the game, but I wonder why Markovic wasn't even in the squad?

Largely because he's been awful, I would imagine. Though if that's the criteria then the squad should have contained about 3 players.

Bloody hell, I think it's fair to assume the team will be going for damage limitation so 11/1 is about right.

Sturridge has gone with the squad and the guardian are reporting he might get some game time. I don't think that is realistic but could be nice if he made an appearance at the weekend. It was originally stated he would be out for another 2-4 weeks, so the 2 weeks is just about coming up now.

At least Can gets a start I suppose, I'm keen to see more of him. And what a game for Borini to lead the line in - feel sorry for Lambert though, he's just not getting the chances.

Lambert hasn't taken any of the chances he's got. I'd like to see Toure given another chance, he can't be worse than Lovren/Skrtel. Gerrard has been poor this season and deserves to be dropped. Borini deserves a chance also. I'd say Lucas is the weakest link there, unless he rediscovers his form from a couple of seasons ago.

Rodgers certainly has the balls, he'll get slaughtered if Chelsea win at Anfield on the weekend.

I think Toure has been one of our best tonight. We're playing better than on Saturday anyway!

Doing better than expected. Been pleased with Moreno, Can and Borini. Though when we are finding ourselves in that rare shooting position no one is having a pop. Could do with Coutinho on, he's never afraid to take pot shot.

I think it's more that he's determined to make this new system work and it's clear to all but seemingly him that it doesn't. He abandoned a system that saw us nearly win the league and yes losing Suarez and having Sturridge injured doesn't help but all the other player that thrived on it are now so stale. I get he's trying to make us harder to score against but that just isn't happening. I think we'd all rather us concede goals if we were scoring more and winning the games but we aren't.

He definitely doesnt have a plan B, I think suarez papered over a few cracks with him too. Shame as I like him
