A lot of signings? As in Lambert, Lallana and Lovren? One of those has been brought in as a sub too. The other a bad injury keeping him out for the first month of the season and pre-season.

Can, Manquillo, Markovic, Moreno and Balotelli have all come in from foreign football. Sakho's lack of English doesn't help either.

The overreaction in this thread is nearly as bad as 5live and talksport phone ins.

How many bad performances are we allowed before we can moan?

We are a shambles all too often and the manager is repeatedly trying the same thing, which never works. Rodgers has previously shown plenty of tactical acumen but this season seems hell bent on a 4231,which suits no one.

Agree we have had a lot of new signings but the core of the team has remained the same. I was disappointed with our defence last season & this was one section I hope would improve this season especially with the amount of money we have spent in that area but these opening games have shown that the defence has gotten worse.

To those wishing Agger was still here - did you see him play the last few seasons?

Imo him leaving was inevitable - it's a harsh truth but he just wasn't up to the rigours of Premier League football anymore. He was too easily bullied, too lightweight and even his pace (which set him apart from Skrtel/Carragher a few years back) seemed to have leaked away from him. In his skant appearances towards the end of his tenure, you saw opposition forwards target him with aggressive tactics to which he had no answer.

Granted, he was probably the best CB we had in terms of comfortability and distribution of the ball, but that doesn't take away from the issues above. Just because we're still having defensive issues now, harking on about how we let should never have let him leave and how he'd be the saviour at the back currently - is just not true imo.

And I say all this with a heavy heart, as I bloody loved Agger back in the day. :(

Bale to miss the CL game?

Now just need Ronaldo, Benzema, Rodriguez, Hernandez, Isco, Modric and their entire defence to pick up injuries and we might just have a chance.

Well, Benzema was out with illness recently and Sergio Ramos has had an injury. *Crosses fingers*

If we pick the right team we can make life difficult for them, getting back to last seasons claustrophobic pressing and hi-tempo.

Thoughts for tonight? I see where Rodgers is coming from when he mentions Balotelli being in the box for chances against QPR but his insistence on trying to shoot from 30 yards out throughout the game is frustrating as is his general attitude.

I'm hoping for a decent performance and to keep the score respectable. I don't have any confidence in them actually beating Real.

Fuck me, there are some goals you simply have to accept and applaud. That was one of them.

Yep got to agree that was some play. Need to stay focused we are playing well & can still get something from this game.
