Don't blame Borini, some may say he's doing it to just get paid to nothing. Think it shows his (perhaps deluded) ambition. Don't hate on a player for wanting to stay at the club.

4 strikers is probably about right for a squad competing in several competitions.

He'll struggle for game time but hopefully with some extended cup runs he may get his chance. Plus Sturridge will probably get injured at some point, Balotelli suspended and old folk like Lambert are a risk during the cold winter months.

To be fair to Borini... All it takes is one of Balotelli or Strurridge getting injured for a few weeks and he could have an in. Maybe he reckons he has more to offer than Lambert? I'm not sure he has shown this, but if I was in his position I'd be thinking it is worth rolling the dice on it. If it doesn't work - ship out in the January window...

You can't blame him in a way. No disrespect to QPR and Sunderland but Liverpool is a much bigger club. He left Roma for you guys right? He clearly wants to try and succeed. If he doesn't play much for you I can see him leave in January. He's in a similar situation to Joel Campbell at arsenal.

To agree with what others have said, I think it is ambition, not money, that has kept Borini around. And in fairness to the lad, QPR are likely to struggles this season and Sunderland were terrible for 25-30 games before turning it around. By staying he has an outside chance of doing enough in trqining to get ahead of Lambert in the pecking-order so when injuries strike it gives him a chance.

There's no way Brendan will bring him back in. Not when he knows he can get a decent fee for him which could be put to good use in the future. He'll be off in January without playing a single league game, I'd bet. I'm amazed he turned down 58k p/w to stay and fight for his place after the manager publicly said he should move so he can play some games.

Well arguably that proposed fee was off the back of a decent 6 months at Sunderland. If he doesn't now play for 4 months that fee will drop a reasonable amount, I reckon.

From the clubs point of view I've always said I don't think he's good enough (and he doesn't fit our play now anyway), but can understand why he might have wanted to stay.

I really doubt it'll make much of a difference. If he doesn't play between now and January, all it'll indicate is he isn't good enough to play for Liverpool - which is something we all already know.

QPR are planning to go back in for Defoe in January so I doubt they'll suddenly baulk at the asking price for Borini. It's just a matter of the player agreeing terms. A pay-rise of 23k p/w and a move to London will surely look more attractive once he's accepted he has no future at LFC.

I'd be surprised is he didn't already know he has no future at Liverpool. He was loaned out all last season and has had offers accepted by the club from QPR and Sunderland over the summer. Add to the fact they club also signed two new strikers who are also in front of him in the pecking order.

Wages wise I'd guess his agent is telling him such and such a player is on x amount, so that is what you should be on. Same us the rest of us players will want to be paid what they believe they are worth. The fact he could be getting told he's worth more than he actually is right now is another thing.

If he wants games though at some point he's going to have to bite the bullet and jump ship though.

Sounds like it could be just a slight strain that means he misses the match on Monday and is lovely and fresh for next weekend. Everyone's a winner (apart from England as they grind out the dullest 0-0 in history against the Swiss).

I wouldn't be surprised if Borini gets a start in the next few matches, especially since we've got 4 games in 10 days.

But now we've got so many options anyway, with the likes of Markovic, Lallana and Coutinho who could start. Not as worried about Sturridge as I would've been last year, when Aspas or Moses were our options.

Anyone read Red or Dead? Got it for Xmas last year but only just started it due to reading other stuff. The writing style is really putting me off and i'm only 3 chapters in. I feel like I should carry on and learn more about Bill Shankly but already the style is grating on me. Whatever possesed the author to write it like that? It reads like a primary school child wrote it.

From an Amazon review:

"Be warned - this book is far from being everyone's cup of tea. Peace's writing style is highly stylised and brutally repetitive. If you're a fan of nihilistic experimental literature, like Samuel Beckett or BS Johnson, you'll feel right at home. If you're more a fan of Liverpool Football Club, you may well find this a really boring and frustrating read."

Guess that kind of sums it up.
