Agger himself had said he wouldn't play for another English club, apparently. He's been the best ball-playing CB we've had for years. If he could manage to keep himself fit he still is good enough for a club playing at a higher level; it's a bit of a step-down, even considering it's his hometown club.

Well I suspect that had Barcelona been serious in their pursuit, he wouldn't have turned it down, so I reckon they no longer had an interest and knowing that he was not guaranteed much game time his hometown club was the best (only?) option.

I've been a massive Agger fan since he came to the club, the guys a proper Liverpool legend for me and he's always given his all for us. Good luck to him, I wish he could have been less injury prone and played for us for another 5 years but that wasn't to be.

Sakho and ( to a lesser extent) Lovren scare me in defense. There's no way we're keeping a clean sheet.

There should be clauses in the contract where the defenders lose wages based on mistakes made. We'd never have to pay them.

On the flip side Liverpool look dangerous every time they touch the ball, going forward they are frightening.

6 points from a first 3 games of Southampton, Man c and spurs, two of which were away is a decent return. Probably the toughest start in the league based on last years league positions.
