What if Jack Wilshire's chronic smoking problem is causing Wenger to seek more reliable midfielders? I mean, there's literally no evidence for this fucking stupid statement, but I'm just putting it out there to generate discussion. What do you mean I'm trolling? How dare you, stop getting huffy

Tbh I'd be fine with that. Entertaining guy, but he was shite 90% of the time last season. You can have him for £39,999,999 if you want.

If Remy hasn't actually failed a medical and Liverpool just pulled out for some other reason, that's a massive dick move trying to make out that he's got something wrong with him.

Liverpool FC haven't given any reason for it falling through. At no point have the club said he failed a medical. Its the just the most obvious reason it fell through due to the stage the transfer was at which is probably why journos are reporting it as such.

Seemed inevitable. Hopefully with Borini and Assaidi on their way also the club still has a lot of money to play around with.

Despite what the critics say (who seem to believe if you are not spending £30m+ on star names you are buying average players) I think the club has done well so far; strengthened the squad and brought in some younng players with huge potential. now its just about bringing in a left back and a striker.

Yeah love Agger. Always be a player I think fondly of.

However I have a lot of trust in both Rodgers and the owners so I'm pretty happy for them to do what they think is best for the club. There's no room for sentimentality.

I don't think it's a case of the club wanting him to leave, as much as it is the club not standing in his way. He fell to third choice behind Skrtel and Sakho last season, and we've just spent 20 million on another centre back, it's understandable that he'd want to go. As sad as it is, his time has come.

Probably is Liverpool's best defender but he has an annoying habit of losing his player for a split second , ususally around the penalty spot , allowing them to get in front of him for a shot on goal. I could be nit-picking though.

Also made of glass at times.

Agger is our best defender but you can't guarantee he'll last a season, which is a big problem when you're in desperate need of stability at the back. He also doesn't want to be on the bench so really it's just best for all concerned if he moves and we try to find a fit replacement.

Apparently he's been at Liverpool for 8.5 seasons and has made 232 appearances. If that's anywhere near accurate then I think that amply illustrates his injury record!

(Skrtel has made more appearances despite being here for 2 fewer seasons and being somewhat out of favour for at least 1.)

Bertrand has gone to Southampton on loan. I am very pleased with this having previously been linked with him.

But now with the Southampton link the likelihood of us buying him has probably significantly increased...

It's probably been said before, but Coates was pretty decent again last night apart from his yellow card. The goals conceded does seem typically sloppy. City was stronger on the whole unsurprisingly, but the chances was about the same. If only Sterling's last effort wasn't disallowed, that was a beauty. And if only Coutinho could shoot...

Wish we could have seen even a little bit more of markovic,

Another good performance from Can tonight, liking him a lot already.

Ibe and Suso having a good game too, hope they stick around and get used this season.

Kind of pleased Lambert missed his penalty. Want his first Liverpool goal to be more that a penalty in a meaningless friendly.

Liverpool v Man United on Monday, should be good. No such thing as a friendly when its against them.

I'm sure he's pleased he missed it too, won't have the pressure of never missing one for the club ;)

I don't think it's strange. We've been actively trying to shift him since last summer. He'll sit on the bench there, earn his £100k p/w that we were no longer prepared to pay him, and get to play in the domestic cup games. His wage demands essentially priced him out of moving to a club where he'd be first choice. It's the last big contract he's going to get so I guess the thinking is he may as well take the money while he can.
