There's only one pie-in-the-sky replacement I could think of as exciting and something that'd fill a bit of the Suarez-sized hole and that's Falcao. Word is there's a chance he could be levered out of Monaco on a loan and then purchase fee.

We won't get him of course, but he would be my ideal world replacement.

Benzema would be good, but despite all the talk that comes each and every transfer window, deep down we all know he's not available. If we keep Borini though, I don't think there's a pressing need for a striker. Realistically, anyone we bring in isn't going to dethrone Sturridge as first choice, and we have two decent backups for him. Personally, I think Sterling would suit the role well.

Borini isn't good enough imo, even as a backup. He doesn't play the way Rodgers is getting us to play - his distribution is poor, his first touch bad, and he doesn't create anything himself - he has little/no skills in his locker to go past a man. It's a shame he won't move to Sunderland as £14M would be a pretty penny for a (imo) failed signing.

Sturridge is going to get injured. We need a direct replacement for him and someone that can, at times, play with him. Lambert will have his uses and as Jamin says, Borini is not that player either. I can't really name names to be honest. Going by the RAWK hivemind they can't either and are coming up with some ludicrous suggestions.

I'm not against the signing of Bony. I think he could partner any of our other strikers and play in a 3 with Sterling and Markovic. Obviously I'm contradicting myself as he's not a like for like replacement for Sturridge but I just can't come up with anything else that's realistic. Benzema, Falcao etc are just pipe dreams for anybody apart from the truely elite clubs.

Any word on what exactly was the medical issue then? Must have been bad.

Looks like Origi can't even come and try and fill a void either cause the deal says he has to stay at Lille on loan.

Should have tried to get Pedro as part of the Suarez sale after Sanchez snubbed us.

Who is available, suitable and attainable as another forward? Would have liked Griezman but he's gone to Atletico.

Screw it, bring back Dirk.

And what's this latest rumour about us being linked with Vermaeleon (or however its spelt) from Arsenal? Surely we have enough CBs now; Sakho, Lovren, Agger, Skrtel, Toure (old), Ilori (young/injured?), Coates (still here?) and Kelly. Enough. Sort out the LB/RB slot.

Harry reckons the medical would have been fine and they are just saying that to get out of the deal.

Maybe because they have someone better lined up. That's my hope anyway. My pre-season optimism.

Reckon it's his attitude or something. Very strange for the club to have him with them in America for nearly a week and the medical is the reason, especially considering he was in the French squad.

Full backs are still very much the priority in my opinion, at the very least a left full back, I reckon.

Kelly, Flanagan and Johnson should have the right side of defence covered between themselves so the left side is definitely the pressing concern.

If Remy hasn't actually failed a medical and Liverpool just pulled out for some other reason, that's a massive dick move trying to make out that he's got something wrong with him.

He's failed 4 medicals in 10 years. And are you trusting Harry's word over ours? Yowsers

 Ok, is this better?

"If Remy hasn't actually failed a medical and Liverpool just pulled out for some other reason (and just to clarify, I'm not suggesting that's the case! After all, I wasn't there lol!!!), that's a massive dick move trying to make out that he's got something wrong with him (but again, please don't think I'm saying that's definitely how it went down. I'm sure it's just hearsay ok guys!!! Hope we still cool!!!!)

Fuck me.

What if Jack Wilshire's chronic smoking problem is causing Wenger to seek more reliable midfielders? I mean, there's literally no evidence for this fucking stupid statement, but I'm just putting it out there to generate discussion. What do you mean I'm trolling? How dare you, stop getting huffy

Yeah except you've just made that up yourself, and I didn't make up the stuff about Remy's medical. It's swirling about isn't it, whether it was started by Redknapp I don't know, but clearly there is some talk that the medical isn't the real reason for it falling through.

I know Remy has a reputation for being a bit of a cock but I've never heard of a club pulling a transfer in the last minute for such reasons. Either he actually did fail his medical or the club has decided to target another player.

You were already talking about it ffs! Three of your own lads have suggested on this very same page that the medical might not have been the real reason for the collapse of the deal. But apparently when I reply and say "If that's true, that's pretty out of order", I'm trolling.
