I think Jonathan Northcroft of the Times got it spot on when he said that Liverpool were too late in declaring an interest in Sanchez for them to be in a position to change his mind on joining Arsenal. Its not like the Willian situation where the club were blown out of it when Chelsea rocked up with a bigger offer. Arsenal simply moved quicker and did a brilliant job of convincing Sanchez that he had a greater chance of winning things at Arsenal.

Alternatively, Sanchez simply lacks the testicular fortitude necessary to deal with being seen as Suarez's replacement. Because he is a little bitch and I hate him.

Ben Jefferson of the Express tried to suggest that Liverpool would be a realistic destination for Yaya Toure if he leaves Man City. I'd like to think its because Ben is a complete moron but sadly its probably profitable click bait.

He'd get a much bigger house in Liverpool than he would in London!

And far more likely to have it broken into, amirite guys, eh?

Kolo told him about the awesome birthday cake he got from us.

Uh there's nothing daft about that, the vast majority of big transfer fees are paid in stages. Not a chance you'll be getting £70m in one payment.

Over 2 years is daft....well Liverpool will be daft to accept it. And yes I'm well aware big transfers get paid over time in general.

I really doubt you've even paid all of Lallana in one chunk. Installments just give the buying club more freedom, which allows them to spend more. Especially with FFP in mind.

Standard, really? Seems like an extremely long time to me, but as more and more people suggests 'its the norm' I stand corrected.

Yeah, there's a lot of stipulations, like reaching x number of games (which is why Mascherano didn't play many games for West Ham initially), reaching the Champions League (so we never paid the full whack for Stewart Downing) or winning the league (Glen Johnson!) for example.

It was also the reason why we got Coutinho relatively cheap - we offered the whole lot upfront. A great risk given his injuries, but it paid off.

Apparently Spurs are now after Origi.

 like clockwork

Surely there is just someone in the media who leaks all of these stories of Spurs being interested in players Liverpool are after just for laughs. Right?

Gutted to see a 25+ goals a season striker leave but he had way too much excess baggage that was always dragging the clubs name down. Hopefully the money will be spent wisely.

Hope we don't get to meet Barcelona in the Champs League.

Not surprising. We kept him for another season and got the best out of him and even more money. All round a decent job I'd say.

A shame not to see him play for us in the Champions League. It's hard not to be gutted with this and missing out on Sanchez. Next season is always going to be a tough slog and probably the real test for Rodgers, but would put is in good stead if we do well.

Fuck him, I say. An excellent player, no doubt, but the fee is ridiculous and he spent half his time suspended. If we invest the money in weaker areas of the squad, and push Sterling inside permanently, it will work out for the best I reckon.
