Ever present in the Champions League, Premier League title winners multiple times, one of the most successful and respected managers in the game, cash, an excellent squad of players who are all staying?

You had a great run last season but you are going into a new season losing by far your best player with no guarantee that your squad can handle the extra fixtures.

Don't get me wrong I think the future is pretty bright for you but no need to be silly about it.

2004 called?

So are Galatasaray (and other teams who never win); past glories; past glories; we've also got cash, evidently; we're building a squad so you gotta start somewhere. Also, you're not immune to your best players leaving at their peak.

So, not significant, really.

I think it's a fair statement, particularly for foreign players. The lure of London as a place to live for them and their family has to be greater than that of Liverpool.

With that said it's up to Liverpool FC as a club to sell themselves as a better option for the player and his career and the possibility of winning trophies.

Sanchez would have been a dream signing, Arsenal fans must be super-excited about seeing him in their shirt next season :hat:

Can we stop the silly bickering about the appeal of both clubs now? There are various reasons why either might be appealing depending on your lifestyle, personality and footballing philosophy.

Agreed. Can understand why London would be a big draw mind. And if his family want to be there well there's very little we could do. Just a bit of a joke tbh that Suarez's arrival at Barca has seen another of their star players forced out and now he's joining a direct rival.

I wonder who Ayre is lining up for his marquee signing this summer...

I am, but still won't believe it until it's on arsenal.com I've been pretty impressed by the way Liverpool are going all out to get their targets, I know Southampton fans won't agree with me. Are you guys confident for the new season?

I'm not expecting more than last season but hopefully we can try and do something about the weaknesses that were apparent so we can continue to challenge, and not just have had that one exciting season where we came very close.

Chelsea surely will be stronger this year, United could bounce back and Arsenal must be due a season where they sustain their challenge til the end, Man City will be Man City provided they hang on to Yaya. So top four will be a challenge, but if we can achieve that and get out of the group stages of the Champions League, i'll be chuffed.

Not confident at all though, no

It will be very interesting for sure, this summer is crucial for all the top clubs. Liverpool clearly have a list of targets and it's nice to see a clear vision in the transfer market (arsenal are so secret squirrel) I don't buy into everyone saying Liverpool are doing a Tottenham.

Careful, you'll upset the Spurs fans.

To be honest I don't think you will find many Spurs fans that believe a top four place is a realistic aim for this season.

All we want to see is a better quality of football, a decent cup run or two and a chance to see some of young talent like Lamela and Ericksen become the creative fulcrum in the team. Anything will be an improvement on last season and the debacle that turned out to be.

Next season is going to be tough and I dont think anyone but maybe Man City can be confident of finishing in the top 4. I expect us to compete, to sure up our defence slightly and not score quite as many. I'd be happy with another sustained title challenge and a top 4 finish, with a strong showing in the Champs league. Bout time we won a cup again too.

I'd say that is because Liverpool have already got a strong side and are boosting their squad where as Spurs were already missing a few key signings prior to Bale going

I can certainly see why Arsenal may be a more attractive option for Sanchez, London aside. They're the safer bet, for sure. As carlito has said, they always qualify for CL football, whereas this will be our first season back in ages. Obviously there's no guarantees either way but if I had to bet the house on which one of them would finish in the CL places this season, I'd be backing them. At the same time, I do feel Liverpool would be the more ambitious choice. The way Rodgers has this team playing is the stuff of dreams, for me. If we were keeping Suarez, I'd be feeling like we can win the league this season. Performances just seem to be getting better and better under Rodgers, and it finally feels like we have some direction and a manager and board with vision.

Oh well, we move onto the next target. I was fuming by the end of last summer's transfer window, hopefully we won't have the same problems this time.

"Liverpool are holding out for £75million but Barcelona are hoping to make the payment in stages, with part based on performances.

But the deal looks imminent, with one sports shop in Barcelona, Futbolmania, already offering 'Suarez 9' shirts for sale."
