Bajetic continues to impress and Doak has shown more willing than Salah since coming in.

For a reset and back to basics performance that was very satisfying. Never really felt like we were in any real danger, which was a nice feeling. Forgot what that was like.

Happy with that. How good did Doak look? I was worried he was going to get a red card before even touching the ball, but he quickly calmed himself.

 

I especially liked that we seem to have realised that gamesmanship is a thing. Good, I'm sick of seeing every other team twat about and get away with it, about time we gave some back.

The younger players really showed up the established ones (Hendo, Salah, Fabinho, etc) tonight. 

 

Gomez was solid by the by, happy for him. But please let Phillips/Konate be our main pairing for a while.

Nothing bullshit about it. 2 Chelsea players in the 6 yard box as the ball was played forwards. Cut and dried, even Rashford would have had that one disallowed.

Milner played both onside for the initial ball. They were looking at Havertz's toe being ahead of the ball when Thiago Silva hit the post

It was the correct decision, as Havertz's left foot was ahead of the ball when Silva took the first shot.  When the ball came in initially, Milner played everyone onside.  The offside was from Silva's shot.  When it rebounded to Havertz he became active and therefore it was offside.

 

This is similiar to the one last week - technically correct but feels wrong.  I doubt there will be the same outcry, though!  

 

I kind of think we should be a bit fairer to the officials, who have called two weird offsides correctly despite them being really difficult decisions.  There were two more in the Liverpool-Wolves game that seemed crazy but were both technically correct.  Someone should revisit the law in the close season because it's not really working as intended.  The handball law too - it seems bizarre to me that there's this whole exception to the law where accidental handballs are fine unless the same player who accidentally handballed it scores.  It throws up all sorts of bizarre scenarios.
