That's also the exact same thing the article from 2012 states. Liverpool were not contributing as a team then either.

Wait until 22/23 and I suspect Nunez will be absolutely flying. Especially if Gakpo starts smashing out even half the assists he's been contributing to date.

You've selectively quoted me there and I think the context I mentioned is important purely because of what I said - that Liverpool in 2012 were trying to find their feet again after the disaster of the previous year or so, whereas now they are operating at a higher level, so the noise around somebody not meeting those higher standards will of course get spoken about a bit more (a better comparison to back then will have been with Andy Carroll, purely in terms of coming in for a big fee - if Nunez had been snapped-up for a similar price to Suarez, there wouldn't be as much noise I'm sure.)

Anyway, I happen to think he will be a big success in time and I don't see anybody saying he won't be (well, @disperse and recoagulate doesn't seem to be a fan). He does need to work on his finishing though, I don't think that's a contentious comment.

Nunez has also hit the woodwork five times, which with a glass half full approach shows he’s not too far off being more prolific, and he’s provided four assists, which is the same as Salah. Nunez has also been recorded sprinting at 38kmh. He must be an absolute bastard to play against.

Over what distance? That's faster than Bolt's 100m record...

Bolt’s top speed is averaged over 100m; the source of Nunez’ speed didn’t quote distance but almost certainly would have been a short burst.

Bolt achieved his average speed from a standing start, and maxed out at a frankly ludicrous 27.7mph / 44kmh.

Don't listen to me. I didn't like Kuyt when we signed him and by the end he was my favourite player.

Even got him to 104 rating on a PES master league once.

Hopefully by 2024 I'll be singing his praises and forcing my kids to have 27 on their shirts. (Fun fact: Gillingham's number 27 shares my surname, it was meant to be!)

That’s peak speed… not average speed over 100m which of course includes a start from 0.

HNY reds.

I personally love Nunez. His finishing needs work, that’s clear to everyone, but I’d be far more concerned if he was having quiet games. Instead we’ve seen evidence all season that defences have absolutely no idea how to actually contain the guy and for me that’s incredibly exciting. The goals will come, I’m not worried about that.

Talk on shitter about Moises Caicedo signing this week.

Take that with the necessary pinch of salt required.

We'll get Caicedo and because they drew at home with Everton City will go big on Bellingham. ;)

The twist is Jay Spearing was our big midfield signing.

Talking of Jay Spearing, he was in hospital over Christmas with an adrenal glands disorder. Apparently rushed in and days away from serious trouble at most.

Oh shit, had absolutely no idea :(

Thank goodness he’s been diagnosed and can get the necessary treatment to see him back towards better health.
