He’s box office. He plays like a horse on an ice rink at times but is also looks as tough to defend against as a charging, angry bear.

Third senior season, and already hugely entertaining, with a goal every other game. Give me that over some of the absolute shite we’ve had up top over the years.

I'm slightly annoyed but also happy Doak is doing so well for you. Real talent we had no chance of keeping hold of,  but we also realised what we had too late. Got the lot to be a really good player.

He’s quality. Was great to see him get some minutes tonight. With him, Bobby Clarke, Harvey Elliot and Fabio Carvalho, among others, the next few years is looking decent.

Totally spun-out by the Gakpo news, that’s not even been on the radar at all has it? Salah, Gakpo, Nunez, Jota, Firmino and Diaz? That’s a mental line-up to choose a front three from.

The club has been linked to him all through the summer so it's not a completely out-there bit of business, but still a bit of a surprise. Still doesn't address the central midfield issues though.

Ah fair enough, didn’t realise there had been links with us. Assumed he was going to Manchester United PLC.

If you rely on paper rumours for our signings, we'd song the whole damn world!😅

From what I just heard on the radio, it's pretty much done. Looks like another exciting signing, great news.

Well my point wasn't that it meant we were definitely signing him (that would obviously be ridiculous), just that there was some recognised interest in him. As I said above, on that basis it isn't a particularly left-field signing.

The question around gakpo had always been how would he perform outside of holland as its not the strongest of leagues.  He looked decent at the world cup, played through the middle as well instead of out on the left cutting in so showed a bit of versatility.  I think he gave a good showing.

Problem is that we signed Ryan babbel on the back of a good tournament and the boy for all his hard work was not up to the Premier league.

I think klopp still fancies elliot and another ball playing midfielder in a 3 man but I think that leaves us really light.  You need to have a couple of decent ball wining midfielders.  I feel elliot and thiago for example is just too lightweight.  I expect Curtis Jones to play pure midfield going forwards as well.

It was only said, tongue in cheek.  I'm just one of those people who only believes it when I see the shirt being held up. Media/paper are fully of bollocks a lot of the time.

I must admit, I didn't expect us to sign him.
