Why inevitable? Coutinho has never ever indicated he wants to leave. And the club won't bend over. No point in getting into the champions league and then selling your best player aka Suarez, that didn't work out well, I'm sure that the club has since learned from its mistakes

Selling Suarez wasn't the mistake. Gambling on Balotelli to replace him was where they fucked up. If the club ended up spending the Suarez fee on Griezmann, Lallana and Lovren instead of Lambert, Balotelli, Lallana and Lovren then Rodgers would probably still be in charge. If, or more likely when, Coutinho leaves then the club needs to make sure they replace him properly.

*Not shitting on Lambert here, I just think that his fee plus Balotellis fee is close enough to what Atletico paid for Griezmann from what I remember.

He was unprofessional again and again. He did it under Rodgers, and he did it while he was at PSG. It was one of the reasons he ended up leaving them. I must be one of his biggest fans but it's clear he has burnt his bridges here. It's not like Klopp is Mourinho or something, but he was clear when he arrived that the players must behave professionally and buy into his philosophy. Even after he ignored the club's advice on the whole drug test stuff he was given another chance. And then again after he blew that chance in the summer, he did it again quite publicly with his late night snapchat ranting. I think it's fair enough for Klopp to decide to draw a line, even though it's clear how much we suffered on the pitch due to his absence.

Assuming we get in the CL it could be an interesting summer. I'll be judging it quite strictly. We've had too many years with excuses that have lowered my expectations or raised my understanding but this year we might have Klopp, CL football, a team on its way to looking decent and a finished stadium expansion alongside what I've heard is a decent amount of cash.

I'd like at least one established star to join. I'm all for youth and investing in prospects but we've got a lot of that. Someone who's already proven themselves and can be a bit of a leader, preferably still young too of course. Someone like Griezmann would show real intent and ambition but it wouldn't have to be him, just someone of that ilk. I always see Man Utd and other teams associated with those kind of players and we're never to be seen. I can still understand that to some degree but the gap is closing now and I think we need to try harder to reach the top shelf a little more often.

Who and for which position? The names we're being linked with aren't necessarily the biggest but many of them a fantastic players. Naby Keita, for example, is one of the best midfielders in Europe already. If we were to sign him I think a lot of people wouldn't be that bothered, much like Mane last summer. I'm not arsed about names. I just want more players that are talented and fit Klopp's system.

Also, Klopp's comments regarding Phil's position and then his subsequent performance yesterday have me very intrigued currently.

Getting back to Coutinho, I'm not sure I agree with the assumption that playing him as a #10 really suits him. I think he's been pretty poor whenever he's played there, really. For me, his best games have been when the team's been in form and he's started on the left, or as a #8 in a three man midfield.

And it seems Klopp is in agreement.

Think the Anfield Wrap guys Jermaine Jenas on MOTD2 had it spot on when he said that with Phil playing as #8 the players in front feel they can make the runs forward as they know Phil can pick out a pass, where as when its Can or Lucas in that position they play a lot deeper.

I don't think it's that the players make runs because of Coutinho, it's more to do with the fact the team had a player to make the runs in behind.

Sturridge aside there isn't another player in the squad who will make the runs. Origi doesn't do it and neither does Firmino.

So, today's the day then chaps. Reading previews got reminded the side has taken 2 points from last 3 home games (Bournemouth, Palace, Southampton), so while I'd love to be greedy and hope for a big win and a stirring Watford win (or draw), will gladly take dour 1-0 from a Lucas shinner.

It'll be a draw, won't it?

Anyone got the new home top? Was wondering if the fit was clingy and “athletic” or more relaxed/loose fitting to accommodate my pudge. Its my favourite top for years if not ever so definitely going to end up picking one up

Similarly, going to order one as it is the best home kit we've had for a loooooooooong time but don't want to get medium and look like it's painted on or err on the side of caution with a large to find that, even at 37, it looks like I've borrowed my dad's shirt. Overseas so don't think it'll be in shops to try on any time soon.
