Football thread 2013/14 season

The only good thing that happened in today's match was the "WE ARE HULL CITY" banner being caught by the TV cameras.

There is a pro Blue march tomorrow before our game and I assume they'll be a few banners in the ground.

The joke though is this - we are 'sponsored' by Visit Malaysia. There are big red visit Malaysia signs around the ground and the Visit Malaysia logo was mainly red....... Until this week when the Malaysian tourist board rebranded.

Guess what colour they changed their logo to.

Again - isn't it good that the goal line tech has been implemented at some cost when A MAN WITH A TV would help sort out some terrible officiating decisions.

The difference being that the second option means stopping the game. You only have to see how much worse rugby union is to watch these days, with refs regularly stopping the game to refer things to the TMO just to be safe. And that's in a game that already has lots of stoppages. A major part of the attraction of football is the continuous flow of the game -- a video replay system would kill it.

How long was the game stopped for both today's incidents? The game was already stopped.

The natural time that all that took wouldn't change. And the ref talks to his linesman anyway in contentious decisions - that takes time. Perhaps we shouldn't allow them to do that either.

He speaks English really well (fans have chatted to him, he's done supporter events in English, you can even see him merrily chatting away to other managers before matches start in perfect English). It's been pointed out a number of times he's best to keep pretending for media interviews as he can never be misquoted or have a statement taken out of context. Stroke of brilliance really. Probably the most stressful aspect of being a manager neatly tucked away as a minor annoyance.

That was completely abnormal though and was in danger of turning into a farce.

Quite annoyed by today's game, 11 vs 11 it was very evenly matched, but can't help feeling a bit hard done by as the guy that set up both of Lukaku's goals shouldn't have even been on the pitch.

So Cardiff vs Man U today.

Probably the current champions battering a newly promoted side, but too make it a bit more interesting.

The teams haven't met in any competition since 1974/75.

If he plays, it will be the 1st time Giggs has ever played against his home town club (and potentially the only time).

Something about red.

If Utd win they'll be back in the top 4, 1 point off second. Not bad for their worst start in 26 years.

However, as it's so tight from 2nd downwards, if they lose they'll be 8th. Worst start in 26 years!

A draw! Does this mean we want moyes in or out? I've lost track.
