Maybe David Pleat with his 'kooky' pronunciations. But yeah, did Lawrenson actually say, while reaction cam was on Shakira after the red card, 'Ooh, he won't be getting any cocoa.' WUT?

Also, why is Cesar messing around with QPR? Come to the Emirates already.

Nowhere near as good as ACJimbo's "What's the difference between Shakira and Spain?" gag from the Football Weekly podcast following the Spain - Italy semi final.

Spain don't blow their PKs.

WTF? That's almost, but not quite, enough to make me turn the sound back on. :D

It's been quite cool to see the Confederations Cup taken a little more serious this time round. Think it helped having a good handful of top international teams in it. More people seem to have been taking about it more this time round.

It's also nice seeing Spain get spanked for once.

Hansen said Fred was overated before the game, what that was based on? Does he watch Brazilian football every week, I had no opinion on Fred, i think Hansen is doing what people in this country sometimes do with players who don't play in the English premier league then write them off based on seeing a handful of games, like Ibrahimovich

I wouldn't say overrated, more never really that special in the first place. Hansen wasn't far wrong though, and it's not like Fred has been difficult to see play given he played for Lyon for four years.

Well, he's scored 165 goals in 228 games in Brazil and scored every 3 games in France so he's not bad like, he must be highly rated to be overated

Del Bosque is going to move everything backwards again now though, isn't he? Back to a 4-6-0 with 2 sitting midfielders and Iniesta stuck out on the left :(

He would have done already if Alonso had been fit. When they click they can be brilliant (see Euro 2012 final), but I think they're suffering a bit as Xavi's abilities are not what they were a couple of years ago, especially in the big games.

Would a midfield of Busquets-Martinez-Iniesta work? Probably worth a try, although they obviously wouldn't have such a stranglehold on possession.

I think it's also largely a product of the way the opposition set themselves up and play, both for Spain and Barcelona. On their day, against opposition that are actually trying to play football against them, they can be incredible. Sadly it all too easily devolves into dull keep-ball around the fringes of the other team's 18 yard box when they're not prepared, or able, to mix it up a bit.

Of course, they didn't help themselves by playing the ball surrendering phenomenon that is Torres up front.

Spain are at their best when they pack the midfield, keep the ball and basically figure out the other team's weaknesses as the game progresses. If they'd had Martinez and Fabregas on the pitch from the start, probably instead of Torres and one of Pedro or Mata, they could've slowed the game down and given themselves time to think. Brazil's pressing was fantastic, but against this Spain team on a good day, they would've just been chasing the ball and would've tired very quickly.

Spain will now feel they have to win the world cup to reassert their dominance. There was already a great deal of pressure on Brazil, but now they might actually feel that they can deliver on such expectations. Sets things up quite nicely.

Can't help thinking that rumours of Spain's demise are being a bit exaggerated in some quarters considering they played 120 minutes in what was apparently quite ridiculous heat and humidity in the semi (even Pirlo's kit was completely see-through) and had a day less to recover than Brazil.

I mean if any team's going to cope with that it'd be Spain but they're still only human.

Hard to disagree with him, but what the fuck are Sky on about? Abramovich put British football on the map? He's made the Premier League exciting/best league etc?

Fucking Sky. I hope that was just some producer in their ear screaming "He'll sue us into the stone age - make him sound good!"

The mighty AFC Bournemouth are taking on some Spanish team called Real Madrid in a pre season friendly. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23147193

Should be interesting...especially as it seems Real are contracted to play most of their first team!

And Bournemouth are charging an adult ticket price of £60, reduced to £55 for season ticket holders. Kids get in for £30. Absolute greed. I hope their fans boycott it.

There's rumours that Bournemouth have had to pay a large of money to get Real to agree to the friendly. I have heard figures of around £1,500,000 quoted! So I guess they have to make there money back somewhere.

It will be a complete sell out. There's a huge Spanish contingent down here in Bournemouth in the summer due to language schools - so there will be a big away support too.

To be honest I don't believe Bournemouth would fork out that much either. I've seen figures quoted from £250,000 to £1,000,000 - and then that one crazy high figure!

I'm going. Can't believe I'm actually paying £60.00 to see Bournemourg though!
